I am Jonathan Saoyo Simel is the founder and director of MAYOO-Maasai Youth Outreach Organization.

MAYOO operates a Safehouse in the rural community of Inarooj, 35 kms west of
Nairobi, Kenya for 101 girls at risk of FGM and early marriage the house provides
a secure place to live and access to food, education and emotional support.

MAYOO raises to provide clean running water to the Safe House the local community on an ongoing basis.

I am funded by the County government in Kenya to travel to the UK and the USA to raise awareness of the issues facing the Maasai community and to raise funds for the safe house. In order to minimise expenses while traveling I rely on my network of supporters and people on couch-surfing to provide me with accommodation.

I also hosts people in my family home in the village of Ilngarooj 35 east of Nairobi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I set up MAYOO with the help of others to provide opportunities for young Maasai girls to gain and education and be free of Female Genital Mutilation and forced early marriage.
