About Me
CURRENTLY IN ITALY/ UNABLE TO HOST UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!
Hello! I'm Serena and I am currently working in Panajachel (Lake Atitlán, Guatemala) as Textiles and Production Management consultant for NGOs and Brands.
I love connecting people and sharing experiences. I love the outdoors, hiking, climbing, dancing boogie-woogie, my dog, textiles and creativity in all its forms.
I come from a large family, probably the reason why my philosophy is sharing is caring! But, I learned as well to appreciate some loneliness. I think it is important to learn to be fine with ourselves, to be fine with other people.
I'm very interested in Maya Cosmovision and I'm learning how to follow its principles in my every day life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I love to explore the world and to listen to the stories of the people, learning new points of view and building dialogues.
I like the idea to be somewhere where you can feel home and share experiences, and I think that's the Couchsurfing spirit.
Interests
I've been working in the international development field for years. I know my privileges, so I work to leverage them.
I've always been interested by handcrafted items and the practical skills related. I like to create new things giving a second life to the old ones. I'm addicted to those awesome open-air local market, especially the small and overcrowded one, where you can find incredible treasures.
In general, I'm pretty unable to stand still and be quiet!

Music, Movies, and Books
Whatever can be read, I'll read it!
Sappy movies once in a while, documentaries, intellectual movies.
I love rock and rockabilly from the fifties and sixties. Since I moved to LATAM I listen a lot of latin american music. I like electronic music especially when it's mixed with folk music like cumbia.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed the Rucu Pichincha, with no intention to do it when I started walking with some friends. I wasn't a mountain person before, and go up to the top was so hard, for the no oxygen, for this little fear I had, for the last part which is literally hands and feet climbing up volcanos rocks, and for the fact that we where so stupid to have almost no food and not a lot of water. But we made it. It was the first mountain top of my life, and I'll never forget it! It made me fall in love forever with hiking and mountains. Unforgettable!
Teach, Learn, Share
As they say in Madrid, ' compartir es vivir!'. I don't know if i have something to teach, surely i've a lot to learn. What i can share are my experiences, a cozy place, and a good dinner!
