About Me

¡Hello everyone!
My name is Miriam, I'm 25 years old now. I'm studying a degree in medicine, just started the sixth year after taking a gap year to travel around Australia, NZ and south of Asia.

I lived the last three years in Bilbao (you may know it for the Guggenheim museum) to make my studies, but this year I'm back home in order to continue them. I live in Hernani (sure you are thinking "Hernani? Where is it?), which it is a small town close to San Sebastian, in The Basque Country-north of Spain.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and visiting new places and local people. I first heard about Couchsurfing some months ago, when a friend of mine who is in told me about it. I found it really interesting, so I've decided to sign up.
When I travel, I like sightseeing -not the typical tourist-like- and getting to know new people, cultures, typical places... and I think that the best way to do it is getting in touch with local people. I sometimes travell a lone or with a couple of friends, so it's always a great thing getting to know new people and having some company for some days.
I also like showing my town/near cities to travellers who are looking for some fun and talk.
Apart from that, I find it good because it's a way of knowing people from different places, with different ways of thinking and I've always think that's is really enriching.

Interests

I enjoy doing things like reading, going for some beers, praticing sports, playing the guitar... but what I like most is travelling and going to the mountain. Well, actually, I like every activity that involves contact with nature (going for walks trough the forest, near the beach, cliffs... anywhere you can enjoy an amazing sight!)

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite film ever is Les Choristes (Los chichos del coro in Spanish), and I also like films such as The Intouchables, Into the Wild, The readder, The perfume or 50 days of summer.

Regarding to books, I enjoy readding any book that's not science fiction (still I read Harry Potter when I was younger and can't deny I loved it). The followings are some of them: Silk and Glass lands (by Alessandro Baricco), The glass castle, The readder again, Desert flower...

And about music, I don't really have a favourite stile. It's true that I'm not very fond of heavy or clasical music...but deppending on the situation, I can even enjoy both of them!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There is not a thing that specially comes to my mind. Here are some: I spent one new years eve in the Sahara desert, las summer I did a 5 days travell by bike with my friends, I went from San Sebastian to Javea (700 km) by bike spleeping in hostals for 10 days.

Teach, Learn, Share

Mmm... I don't really understand what I'm asked.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my time, I mean I can show them my town, near cities and the surroundings... offer the some advice on places to visit, go to have a snack and deppending on the situation (I live in my mother's house, so you know...mothers always have the last word) offer a place to sleep or if not, at least a typical basque dinner.
