About Me

Hi! My name is Audrey and I'm a very outgoing, enthusiastic person with great sense of adventure and lots of positive energy :)

I lead cycling and hiking holidays for a company called Backroads Active Travel, which is based out of Berkeley, California but operates in 50+ countries on all seven continents. During the peak-season months of June to November, my job takes me to many different places, and in the off season months of December to May, I travel the world on my own.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Currently, I am backpacking through Southeast Asia. Over the next several months, I plan to do a lot of exploring and learning. In March, I will go to India to get my Yoga Teacher Training certification, and in the meantime, I hope to meet as many interesting people as possible and make new friends :)

When I visit a new place, I love meeting and getting to know the people who actually live there rather than just seeing a bunch of tourist attractions.

I first heard about Couchsurfing in 2015 when I was living in Sevilla, Spain, and I decided that it sounded like an amazing opportunity to meet people as I traveled around Europe. The several experiences I've had connecting with people on Couchsurfing have been incredible and truly priceless.

Interests

At university, I studied literature and environmental science. Nowadays, I am a cycling (road biking) and hiking tour guide, and I love all things outdoors! When I am not leading tours, I am reading and writing or practicing yoga and meditation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers, Vance Joy
Poets: Mark Strand, Elizabeth Bishop, Carl Phillips, Amy Clampitt

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Either backpacking through Patagonia (both Argentina and Chile) last year, or teaching English at a community school in Livingstone, Zambia the year before.

Teach, Learn, Share

There is nothing I love more than a cup of tea and some good conversation :)

I truly enjoy learning about different people and different cultures. Particularly during my time in Southeast Asia, I hope to meet people with whom I can talk about yoga, meditation, mindfulness, buddhism, etc. I am very keen to share what I know already and learn from people who have more knowledge and experience in these areas.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love the opportunity to share stories of my own journies and experiences (or anything really!) I am always reading so I have lots of book recommendations :)

Once I settle down and get my own place (whenever or wherever that may be) I hope to be able to return the favor of hosting people on Couchsurfing.
