About Me
Both myself and my wife are on a spiritual journey of sorts...trying to figure out every day how we can be more loving, compassionate, and understanding people. We have both been practicing yoga, meditation, mindfulness for the past 5 years and it has brought so much to our couple, and to our lives in general.
I've been an occupational therapist for the past 13 years, and decided to go back to school to study psychology. The journey that I thought I would be on changed quite a bit. Never thinking that I would be able to be a psychologist, I have found a use for my sensibility to others! In my Ph.D. I have been practicing mindfulness, studying its theories, leading mindfulness-based groups, and using mindfulness-based interventions in my clinical internships.
My wife, Cindy, is a physical therapist who has been quite put off by the fact that private physiotherapy clinics are set up like industrial chains--hardly giving enough time to build a relationship with your clients. Her mindfulness practice also infuses her work. She has been able to set up a clinic at our home, and offer longer treatments that allow her to sooth both mind and body! She is also a yoga instructor--which is the perfect coming together of her physio and mindfulness practices. I am constantly in awe of her evolution through the years!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My wife and I always liked to experience the culture of the places that we travelled, but often found it difficult to do when following our travel guidebooks. Often, the best experiences we had were when we randomly met up with locals and spent a couple of hours, or days getting to know them, their traditions, their culture, their homes....Couchsurfing seemed like a scary thing at first, but it seems to be all that we have been looking for in our years of travelling!!
Interests
We are both pretty laid-back kind of people, but have plenty of energy to spare. What we most like is getting outside: hiking, running, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing....
We like to stay active, and balanced with yoga
Having a relaxed time with friends, in an atmosphere where we can really talk and share is how we like to spend our time outside of our cocoon!
