Über mich

I'm a Danish guy, 24 years old, recently finished my BA in English at Roskilde University, and am now going to Japan for up to 10 months. I've lived in Denmark most of my life, excluding 3 years of living in Nepal with my family (my father had a job there), and 5 months of living in Osaka, Japan during a study abroad term in which I attended Kansai University. Despite not being religious I sing in a church on Sundays as a part-time job.

To be fair towards anyone reading, I'll write both some positive character traits and some negative - positive first:
I'm a positive-minded and happy person, easy going (but not lax), creative when it comes to music, good at cooking (or so I'm told), outgoing, and generally easy to please. I see myself as an energetic and life-enjoying person.
I can be stubborn, with a tendency of nitpicking - though I usually do not have problems containing myself (^_^) . If there is something I disagree with I tend to express this if the situation allows for it, which can both be a bad and a good thing. Lastly, I have long hair and it can get messy.

I have loved traveling since I was a child and have been many places around the world. However, I have never had the chance to Couchsurf, so I hope to make my first experience with it when going to Japan in September, 2015. After traveling around in Japan, I hope to settle down in my own place in Osaka, so meeting some new friends in the start of my trip would be awesome!

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I'm surprised why I haven't been on here earlier. I love to travel and Couchsurfing seems like the perfect way to do it. Paying for a hostel is not a problem, but it seems very boring in comparison to the experiences seen here.
Specifically for my trip to Japan, I hope that my couchsurfing experience can help me find interesting people as I hope to settle down in Osaka until July, 2016. I already have some friends who live in Osaka, but I would love some more - and this could be the perfect way to find them :)

Interessen

The short version is: playing music (singing, piano and guitar), gaming on computer, and making/eating delicious food. Minor hobbies include watching anime, participating in any kind of sports (I generally love socializing while doing sports), and hanging out with people - be this going out to party, playing board games at home or visiting locations in the neighborhood.
Hanging out with fun people is also a perfect pass time :)

Musik, Filme und Bücher

The music I hear varies a lot, but the things I keep coming back to are:
Metallica
AC/DC
Chopin (classical)
Schubert (classical)
YUI (Japanese pop(?))
Queen

I'm not a movies type of person, even though I do enjoy watching them from time to time. If I watch anything on my own, it'll usually be series of a sort - either anime or the popular Western ones like Game of Thrones.

Not a huge book reader.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

When I was 10 I went to around 5.000 meters (16400 feet) height on a Mount Everest trek with my family that lasted 7 days. We last slept in a small village called Gokyo from where we walked through a valley until we could see the Himalayan glaciers. Our guide had been teasing us that there were snow leopards, so I had been quite scared for the most of the walk, despite my parents reassuring me that a snow leopard would never attack such a big group of people.

I was quite proud back then for having taking the trek back then and I still think it's pretty cool ^_^

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I would LOVE to learn more Japanese. During my study abroad stay in Osaka I did take Japanese classes, but 5 months wasn't enough for me to get the hang of it. I still remember quite a lot, but I want to learn more :)
Equally, I hope to teach English during my time there - actually, I intend it to be my main income once I settle down.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

Since Couchsurfing doesn't like for us to give money, I guess buying and cooking food for my host would be one of the better things I could do. Apart from this, spending time together to the extent we both (all) feel comfortable with would be cool, too. I have no demands on how much time the host should spend on me, but I'm hoping that we can get the best out of each other while I'm there :)
As a rule of thumb, I want to give back to the host in some way or another for letting me stay at their place.
