About Me
This profile is for Eleanor and Ruby. We're kind of a package deal...
We grew up in Wanaka, New Zealand and have known each other since primary school.
Update: We have now parted ways and are embarking on our solo travel adventures! I'm (Eleanor) travelling through America for a month, from the East coast to the West, looking to meet all kinds of people along the way as well as meeting up with some old friends. The fun game is you get to meet me and then figure out which parts of the profile are about me and which parts are about Ruby.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We've just set out on our big OE (overseas experience) around Europe, the UK and America but we're also just out of university so our budget is super tight. But it works out great because we love meeting new people and when we go back to New Zealand, we'll have two different places for hosting people!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
Live music, New Zealand music, live New Zealand music, classic bangers
An eclectic mix.
I guarantee there's at least one artist we can bond over.
Books:
I just finished reading a copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which I picked up on my travels and I'm actually kind of looking for a home to leave it behind in... (this could be you! act now! host me! don't miss out!) I also have travelling with me a copy of The Glass Menagerie and Our Man in Havana. I read a lot in the younger end of my youth but found it difficult to keep up so much while working and studying. I did finish the House of Leaves though which was probably the most striking thing I've read in a long time. I loved it. More recently I read All The Light We Cannot See which my dad gave me for my birthday when I met up with him in France September last year.
Movies:
I will watch anything. Even if it's bad. I love even just the experience of movie watching. Having said that, I have compiled a top 10 of movies that are important to me for a range of reasons. In no particular order:
Mad Max (Fury Road)
The Day After Tomorrow
Ever After
Lord of the Rings (3 for the price of 1 but if I had to pick one it would be Return of the King)
Amelie
Princess Mononoke
Elephant
Harold and Maude
The Science of Sleep
I'm a Cyborg But That's Okay
then of course there's Wes Anderson and Tim Burton and Stanley Kubrick etc. etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We're in the middle of it!
But so far the most amazing out of everything would have to be assembling families from strangers on the other side of the world with all the ferocity of care that entails
Teach, Learn, Share
languages, culture, friendships, food and experiences
What I Can Share with Hosts
We love learning and teaching new board games and card games and we're always down to cook you breakfast or help out with childcare... or we can share a few cheeky drinks and just chat about our experiences.
I'm a super flexible guest- whether you would prefer me to be pretty much fully self sufficient or if you want to spend every waking minute together discussing life, the universe and everything and getting up to all kinds of antics. And of course anything from the happy medium.
