About Me

So far in life I've done all the "right" things; go to school, get a job etc. etc....and yet nothing about it has felt right. I've always felt out of place like I was meant for something else... something greater..something that would change the world! I can't be the only one who feels this way? But, like many 20 somethings I have yet to figure out what that "it" is.

I've always believed that travelling could cure anything; a broken heart, a writing block, a mid-life crisis :p. Getting lost is supposed to help you find yourself right? So the feeling the way I've been feeling, I figure a trip around the world outta help me figure it all out or at the very least be an amazing experience, a win-win either way  I figured you had to save oodles of money to do a trek around the globe . So I decided that’s what I would need to do. I got myself a few jobs, worked 90 hour weeks and sold pieces of my soul bit by bit for dollars.

The plan was to maintain this lifestyle for a year and then I would have been able to save enough for the trip. But the funny thing about working like a crazy person that no one tells you, is the more you work, the less time you have to do things that are actually good for you (i.e. see loved ones, exercise, read, etc. ) and then less time you have to do soul nourishing things the more you feel like you need to indulge, consume, numb, to make all the suffering of working jobs you hate worthwhile. After 7 months of work, smoke, drink, eat, buy, repeat. I cracked. I wasn’t living anymore I was a corpse imprisoned in my own choices.. how did that even make sense? I had lost sight of what I was doing it all for… the trip. So I said fuck it, I didn’t have all the money I thought I would but it didn’t matter. It was time to go.

So that’s my story and that’s why I’m here now trekking around the globe ready to rebuild the soul and find my “it”. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I cannot offer someone everything, very much like not one person can offer me everything. I believe who we are is collection of all the great.. and not so great people we've meet along the way. They add to us and make us who we are.

I think Couchsurfing is such an amazing concept, bringing like minded people together who have no ulterior motive and genuinely just want to meet other people for the sake of adding to one another's lives. This concept seems to be fading so quickly in our world what with the abundance of smart phones and "social" media.

When I visited Italy I didn't like Rome or Venice, I went with a group and we were herded through all the tourists attractions like cattle. Florence however, I fell in love with. I lived there for the longest period of time and had a chance to shop at the local stores, eat in the hole in a wall restaurants, see all the places not listed in the guidebooks.

Now that I'm trekking around I would love to have that same experience everywhere I go. I want to fall in love with all these places like I did Florence. Unfortunately with limited funds time in not on my side. So what better way to get to know a city quickly than be shown around by someone who knows whats up ;)

Interests

I'm quite easily amused, so its easy for me to love everything.

I love everything to do with food, eating it, preparing it the history of it. All that goodness.

I love to dance I feel like the body is capable of so much if you're brave enough to let it. ;)

I'm getting back into Yoga and Meditation it's unbelievable how happy and clam these two simple things can make you!

Shenanigans - I like to use this word in a positive light... not to be confused with being a shit disturber those people I am not a fan of. But silly activities like going to the beach at 3 in the morning and hopping on board a pirate boat just because. Or running around in the summer rain because its awesome. Shenanigans :)
