About Me

We are a married couple from Italy (Francesco) and Spain (María). Francesco is 32 and María is 30. We used to live in Berlin, Germany, but we realized the life we were living was not what we wanted...so we sold our stuff, stored in a basement our remaining belongings and decided to go for a 10-months trip in Asia and South Pacific! Unfortunately due to an health issue in Vietnam, we had to return to Europe...and now we have rescheduled our trip between Northern Europe and North America!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are on Couchsurfing cause basically we don't like the impersonal and cold treatment you get in hotels and hostels...even when they are nice places. In such facilities you miss a lot of contact with locals and when you ask for hints (sightseeing or simply nice things to do and see), you always get the same stuff you can read in any tourist guide...
Staying with people who actually live in the places you're visiting allows the traveler to meet up people who do know very well the city or the area you're in. Your hosts can show you hidden gems, bring you to local events and delight you with meals in places tourist guides don't even know about. Additionally, it's by sharing some time with local people that a traveler can get a broader idea about a country and a culture.
Sightseeing is fine, you see a lot of beautiful monuments, museums and places...but only the locals can tell you about a way of living and customs.

Interests

We love traveling! We indeed love it!!
Not only the typical sightseeing stuff....we have been tourists fro years, trying to catch on pictures the maximum number of cool spots before the holiday time is over. Now we want to be travelers, which implies to slow down and enjoy every single moment of the trip. Sights, monuments, markets...but as well people, stories, relaxing time sitting and reading, chatting with some locals and trying to be a part of what is happening around us, rather than just taking pictures and fly back home.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: plenty.
Many types...we love to listen to music when traveling on busses, trains, planes...and sometimes it's also a relaxing way of not hearing your dorm mate snoring!! ;)

Movies: plenty as well!
We like many kinds of films...a movie has the objective to keep you entertained for a couple of hours, and that's it. So sometimes we feel like drama movies, some other we feel like sci-fi movies, some other adventure movies, thrillers, comedies...every moment, every evening has its own right movie to enjoy!

Books: plenty again!
We like reading a lot and every time of the year and every state of mind brings along the right book to read. When we feel tired and stressed, easy books like thrillers and adventures stories are enjoyable. When we have more time to dedicate to reading, more complex books come up, like classics of the international literature and even philosophy!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing we have done so far was to leave Germany, leave Berlin, where both me and my wife didn't feel at home, and make one of our dreams true: travel through southeast asia and the south pacific for a almost a year. We have started in February 2015 and we are on the road now!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share our travel experience, our past experiences, our personal story about how two strangers from different countries can meet in Madrid and be latched together in a matter of days.
We can share our knowledge of the places we have lived in and traveled to...and if given the chance, we could share some typical Italian or Spanish recipe with our hosts! ;)
