About Me
Hello! I'm Renán. I'm a guy from Chile, but I live in the Netherlands since 2012. I like to travel, to see new places and share with people. I study music composition, and I play the violin.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of sharing experiences with other people, and just meeting people from all over the world. I think it's also a great way of knowing new places from a different perspective, from a more personal (human?) point of view, hearing stories, rumors, etc.
Interests
Music (composition, performance, etc.) is my main interest, by far. I love to know new kinds of music and go to concerts and parties.
I also really like movies, I would even dare to say that I began composing because of my love for film music. I hope some day I can also be able to work in that.
Despite the fact that my physical appearance doesn't show it (I don't have much style), I'm also interested in fashion and design in general. I think it goes also very close to how I conceive my music (if that makes any sense at all).

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading! I think the ones that have marked me most are To the Lighthouse and Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez, Ficciones by J. L. Borges, Lovecraft's short stories, Edgar Allan Poe, Canto General by Pablo Neruda, among many others.
Movies are also my passion, I think I've watched The Shining around 10 times (if not more), also V for Vendetta, The Sacrifice (Tarkovsky), The Hours, Melancholia, The Men Who Stare at Goats, 2046.
And in music I basically like everything, there's very little music I don't like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For me being able to live and study in Europe is pretty amazing. I have been able to learn 3 new languages (Polish, German, Dutch) and improve my French and English, plus meet people from countries as far away from my own (Chile) as Syria, Israel, Mongolia, and Iceland. Also visit many places that for me were incredibly exotic and almost mythical like Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam, and Krakow.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love cooking, and I think I do it quite well (I especially love to bake sweet stuff, like pies and cakes). I also teach Spanish (I can teach a little Chilean dialect to those who already speak the language) and music (theory, harmony, history, etc.).
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, United States, Venezuela
Countries I’ve Lived In
Chile, France, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Poland
