Hi, my name is Malte, I'm 26 years old and finished my studies in history this year with a masters degree. I am currently working for a social welfare organization in the field of refugee aid. My main task there is the coordination of volunteer work.
I love travelling and visiting new places, meeting new people and getting to know other cities, countries and cultures.
I was born in London and lived there until I was five years old. My parents then decided to leave the metropolis and return to a small town in the northwestern german countryside near the dutch boarder.
I moved to Munich in 2009 and ever since grew very fond of the city and it's bavarian inhabitants (it nearly feels like living in a different country when you're from the north of Germany).
Besides working with refugees I am preparing for a PhD position at the university in Munich and am actively involved with the social democratic party.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Some friends of mine use it quite frequently and were really thrilled, so I thought I'd give it a try.
I like the concept of getting to know different places and their inhabitants.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sadly I watch loads of movies, hear a lot of music and read my fair share of books (academic literature and novels) but always forget the names of authors/bands/movies etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully a great time, some beers/wine and the sorts. I tend to try to travel with only the essentials on me (and almost always fail doing that). Since I do cook regularly I could offer a home cooked meal (if wished) and am always thankful for some company and interesting talks with my hosts.
