I am trying to meet new people, step out of my comfort zone and explore the world! I have just started my PhD and very exited about it! I am passionate about archaeology and it takes me to the most beautiful wild places in the world. I like to think of myself as a spontaneous, fun person. But I'll let you be the judge of that.

I am on couchsurfing because I think it is a great way to meet new people. Hopefully it will show me a side of the places I visit that I may not have seen otherwise.

Centres d'intérêt

I love travelling, music, piano, guitar, movies, series, photography, DJ-ing, diving, surfing, climbing and of course Archaeology! But also geography, climate change, wildlife, volcanoes and storms. You may think now that I am a very sporty person, I am not. I am just interested in these things and pursuing them at my own, usually slow, pace ;) The Arctic is the subject of my studies and I love the area for all its wild natural beauty but I also really enjoy a lazy day on the beach. One of my greatest daily life hobbies is gardening in the spring sun. Nothing beats it.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Grayson Capps, Counting Crows, Ewert and the Two Dragons, and loads of other music. My taste in music ranges from the Beasty Boys to Elliott Smith, and I love the not-yet-famous bands that play at the yearly Eurosonic Festival here in Groningen.
I enjoy movies way more than series, however I always end up watching series... There are quite some good ones though: Shameless, True Detective, Game of Thrones. My favourite movie is A love song for Bobby Long and I also loved the book it is based on. Other movies: Amelie, Delicatessen and Big Fish (anything from Tim Burton actually).
I don't read nearly as much as I would like. My PhD project has me reading loads of scientific literature and when I come home I don't feel like reading anymore. An so I don't. However, in the past... ...I used to read Isabel Allende (loved it!), Tolkien, and yes...Harry Potter. I find myself usually picking the paved road with books and movies. The newest, but amazing, example of this is Wild by Cheryl Strayed. I'd love to go more 'off the beaten track'

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I have flown across the Northern Brooks Range (Alaska) in a helicopter for 5 days visiting archaeological sites. It was amazing, I saw grizzly bears, wolves, dall sheep and loads of caribou. Also a funny little ground squirrel. Using a helicopter as a means of transport to get water from the nearby creek is a whole different way of doing things.

Oh, and I climbed Mount St. Helens!

I enjoy good conversation, preferably while having a beer. I can make you a typical Dutch dinner of help you clean the house. I don't mind helping out with stuff. Just ask. If time allows, a tour of the town would be great!
