About Me

Hallo there fellow folk of the world, and potential host!
¨
My name is Andreas and i live in the country of Denmark. I've just finished my education (Gymnasium), so now i would really like to come out and experience the world, it's culture and language, and see some beautiful nature, beside the FLAT fields of Denmark. I have been travelling relatively much as a child, but now i would like to get a more profound insight in the countries and cultures than what the 1-2 weeks vacations of my childhood has offered. I'm especially excited about going to Iceland and France. I've been to Iceland as a kid, and i remember it as the most beautiful country i have ever visited, particularly Reynisfjara has had a lasting impression on me, and i remember it so vividly! I would like to visit France most of all to better my french, but off course also to get a sense of the culture and learn about the history of the source of European culture.
I have a general love for learning, everything from handwork and building things with my hands, to the more academic fields like history and language. I would like to emphasize that it would be hard to find anything i would not find interesting and go at with vigor.... i would especially like to learn about running a farm, and so, that is what i am mostly applying for.

It's a bit difficult for me to write about my pastimes because, as mentioned, i like to do a lot of different things. One thing i really enjoyed throughout my entire life is to read books in all variations, both fiction and non-fiction. Sometimes my roommate even tells me that i read to much, so he'll probably bee glad for me not really having that opportunity whilst I'm away. In the meantime i plan to exercise my own writing-skills.
For the moment, i really enjoy making food, which I've also work'd with alot, and drawing, both from free imagination and 'still life', which is drawing a motive. I've also lately started to play the piano.

I am generally a quite quiet person by nature, and doesn't speak much unless other people take the initiative, but if they do, i can be assiduous in both listening and speaking. And if a subject is brought up in which i am especially interested, i can sometimes talk on end.

I've finished gymnasium ("College") in 2017. another reasons for my travelling plans is to get an insight in different indo-European languages; in order to have a greater chance to get access to linguistic studies at the university of Copenhagen in 2019.

P.S. I realized in making this profile, that i don't really have any new photograph's of myself, I'll see it fixed as soon as possible, until then i have taken a boring profile picture of my-self

Best Regards: Andreas Daugaard Hansen

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get a broader insight to the country i'll visit, the does and dont's and whatnot. To get a deeper insight in the culture by visiting people as close and i can get, and hopefully make some friends.

Especially in regards to Iceland i would like to get a sens of how the people feel about 'the-every-mans-right'-law (About camping in the wild) so i don't overstep the boundaries.

Interests

I'm a bit around and about. I like to do a lot of different things. For the moment i'm really into the study of language and grammar ("linguistics") one of the reasons i'll like to visit Iceland is to get an insight into the source of my own language (Danish), and see from where it is derived. I'm also learning french, why i'll be visiting after my trip to Iceland.
Otherwise i like to travel, especially on hikes, where the world can't touch, yet where i'm a bigger part of it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Streetlight Manifesto - 2001: A Space Odyssey - The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fixed a drain with a stick, a straw and a bag.

Teach, Learn, Share

A lot of trivial information. Make some language if you want to better English grammar, or if you would like to learn some danish?

What I Can Share with Hosts

Not much but company as i'm travelling on a low budget, but as much as i'll be able to
