About Me

Hello there!

The fact that I am on CS means that I am either an open-minded, easy-going, sociable person who loves travelling and has a sense of adventure, OR that I am possibly a creep, an alien, a robot - or whatever crazy theories some have in mind.

But rest assured, I am just an ordinary female human being who has lived through some extraordinary things and who would be more than happy to share that with you, on the condition that you too, are no robot, alien, creep or Donald Trump.

What can I offer? I am pretty much always up for drinks and/or lunch or dinner because I just love food and love trying food from different countries. Meanwhile, you can expect me to share with you my uncensored opinions about a wide range of topics such as travelling of course, but also about music and arts, politics, education, religion, environmental issues and did I mention: food?

Besides deep conversations that get way to philosophical at some point, we could talk about nonsense or not talk at all and just dance or play music together.

Oh PS. I have a real bad sense of humour. However, my friends tell me it's so bad that it actually gets funny..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The usual, I guess? I find that these days, people tend to stay in their comfort zone because they are afraid of the unknown, whereas meeting new people from all over the world and sharing experiences with them, is one of the greatest things one can do.

Interests

My "arty" side:

- Some call me a musician, I call it more 'knowing some chords' and 'yes, I play the instrument Octo from Spongebob plays'.
- Some call me a writer, I call it more 'accidentally putting words in an order that people experience as pleasant to the ear'.
- I love musicals, ballet and theatre plays, not only to go and watch, but also to perform myself.

My "other" side:

-I'm a language teacher, so, languages and their culture are obviously an interest or mine. So tell me about yours!
- Being an alumni of the European Youth Parliament, I am interested in politics, especially regarding educational and environmental issues and their policies.

Note: if this all sounds boring to you, I am a youth leader and language animator for youngsters between 13 - 19 years old, so I can definitely act like a fool too.

Music, Movies, and Books

I would listen to basically everything a person recommends me to listen to. But my preferences are Irish folk, country, bluegrass and acoustic music aaand 60' music!!

BANDS: The Beatles, The Small Faces, The Kinks, Dave Dee Dozy Bicky Mick & Tich, CCR, Golden Earring, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murpheys, the Dubliners, Mumford & Sons, Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys,...

MY HEROES:
- Paul McCartney, duhhh.
- Johnny Cash! Listen how he interpretes famous classics on his American Recordings Albums.
- Hans Zimmer, with whom I'd love to write a film score once. (wishful thinking).

FILMS:
- I admit: I love Disney. And yes, I know the HSM songs by heart...
- The Lord Of The Rings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 18, I quit my studies and left my friends, family and country behind in order to volunteer in Costa Rica in national parks, animal rescue centres, a small farmer community ...

ERASMUS studying and working abroad. Please do it too!

Teach, Learn, Share

To cut a long story short:

When I volunteered in Costa Rica, I nearly died jumping into a river. Life can end at any time in any (stupid) way - take it from someone who knows it: so live now, and do it passionately. Because in the end, you only regret the things you didn't do... (except for being reckless and jumping into that river. Don't be reckless).

What I Can Share with Hosts

My bad sense of humour, my experiences, some of my songs and good food and drinks!
