Hey there, I’m Katie, born to English/German parents (though I'm a lousy German and don't speak a word!) I I spent 20 years on this crazy beautiful planet living on a little island called Sri Lanka before moving to Wales to pursue my dream of studying music at university. I'm currently on an Erasmus adventure in Krakow, Poland!

Recently vegan and trying to live a less harmful life :)

I appreciate the little things in life; thunderstorms, long laughs, sad books, blanket forts and fairy lights, beautiful music, road trips with good friends, getting lost in nature, brown paper packages and handwritten letters. I sing, I play the flute, I draw, I watch, I photograph and sometimes I smile until my mouth hurts.

Hey, I’m Domante, but feel free to call me Dom. I’m Lithuanian and have spent most of my life living in Lithuania’s absolutely spectacular capital, Vilnius. However I wanted to explore the world a bit more, and thus moved to the exotic island of Sri Lanka two years ago. I definitely do not for a second regret my decision to leave Lithuania: the journey’s been amazing! I love going on spontaneous trips and adventures, meeting interesting people, exploring different cities, and listening to live music. Long walks, sunny days and pugs are my favourite things. My sense of wanderlust was instilled in me by my parents, who often took me on long road trips around Europe as a child. I am ready to take risks, travel the world, fulfil my dreams.

We had our first Couchsurfing experience straight out of school and it was truly the most beautiful experience. We met some incredible people and are total converts to the culture of Couchsurfing and sharing our philosophies and skills and smiles (and couches of course)!

So far, we haven't had our own places to be host ourselves but hopefully that will soon change and we can't wait to welcome you back :)

I love to sing when no one is listening (and sometimes when there are people around too) and I enjoy many different forms of art: classical music, performance art, theatre, slam poetry. I’m interested in fashion and design. I enjoy archery, yoga and leisurely playing a multitude of sports.

Music- I love indie folk most of all. Artists like The Paper Kites, James Vincent Mcmorrow, Bon Iver and Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Matt Corby is my god but there's many more where that came from and I'd love to share... I also like classical music (and a bit of everything else)

Movies- hmm, I'm not the biggest movie buff I'm afraid but I recently watched Whiplash and really enjoyed it. Mao's Last Dancer and White Nights are two others that spring to mind...

Books- I'd have to say The Little Prince (Le petite Prince) is my favourite book of all time but i also love Uncle Toms Cabin and books like The Kite Runner- often sad books that have grounding of realism that tell a story and really make me feel something

Thanks to Katie I’ve fallen in love with indie folk music, and I enjoy listening to Kings of Convenience, Matt Corby, and Sleeping At Last. My playlist is also full of songs by Hozier, Alt-J, Chet Faker, Milky Chance, Arctic Monkeys, Moby, the XX and many others. I’m a fan of almost all genres of music and I particularly love live jazz sessions.

I am also a huge fan of cinema! I can’t even begin to describe how much I love French movies; my favourites include Godard's movies, The Intouchables, Mommy, the Chorus, Romantics Anonymous, Girl on the Bridge and, of course, Amelie. Also atop my favourites list you will find A Clockwork Orange and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Some Like It Hot. I’ve also recently discovered the TV-show Black Mirror, if you haven’t already, I urge you to check it out! Oh oh and how could I forget? Wes Anderson is a genius and I love every single movie of his that I have watched.

I’ve read a lot brilliant of books by Lithuanian authors, but most lack exact English translations, so it would probably be useless of me to list them here. Dostoyevsky and Murakami are two of my favourite authors and one of my favourite books is The Story of San Michele by Axel Munthe.

All things photography, the 3 ukulele chords i know ( :p ) ( I would offer to teach you the flute or at least play for you but i fear the likelihood that you happen to have a flute lying around without knowing how to play it is pretty slim!), vegan recipes, draw you a picture, attempt to teach a dog to shake hands and share all my stories and knowledge about Sri Lanka and my pretty great taste in indie folk ;)

I could show you with the works of countless Lithuanian artists. I could also teach you a few Lithuanian words and phrases, if you’re willing to learn, and the next time you tell someone that you’re going to ‘visit the dwarves’ instead of ‘go to the toilet’, you’ll have me to thank (Lithuanian idioms are the best). I could also teach you a few yoga poses (or attempt to teach you, because I’m still learning myself) and how to make a couple of lithuanian dishes or Sri Lankan dahl, if you are prepared to handle the insane levels of spice.

We don't have much to offer in the way of big material gifts to show our appreciation but we'll do our best to at least have a token of our appreciation ( a postcard or some chocolates from home or where we've recently been for example) and when possible we can try and bake you something if you would like. Other than that we can share our smiles and stories from our life in Sri Lanka and recent travels
