About Me

Hum, where to start... I guess the three most important things about me are: I'm fun-loving, a people's person, and pretty laid-back. "Chill" might be the good definition for the rhythm of my life so far :) youth doesn't last forever right, might as well enjoy it to the fullest!

My family (2 sisters and a brother, and my folks) is very important to me, we're all very close. I guess I could say, in a cheesy way, they are the lighthouse in my life's journey! My friends are also a major occupation, old friends, new friends, girls and boys, from school work or party; as stated earlier I'm a people's person, and although I enjoy a little peace and quiet from time to time, I don't do so well on my own.

I profoundly disagree with Jean-Paul Sartre's famous saying "hell, is other people"; I believe the only way for one to thrive and make the best out of life is to get involved with others, be a strong link in the social chain, and try and do as much good to others, that you do to yourself. Or something like that :p

I currently study Psychology, more on the clinical side of things; thinking about reorienting towards Journalism. I have 2 student jobs, live with my mom brother & sister in the 5th (also with a skittish little black cat named Coco), and I'm also a baby/pet-sitter from time to time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Pretty random reasons; love to travel the world, would like to get as many opportunities as I can to discover new places and cultures, and since in my opinion the best way to fully understand a culture is to meet and get to know its people, no better place to get to do that then Couchsurfing :)

Also, after my sister and I hosted some Couchsurfers 2 summers ago, American then Swedish, I realized how cool and fun it is to introduce people from other parts of the world to your culture; Paris is a lovely city, and having the occasion to help someone discover it is always a blast. Always glad to leave it on vacations, but nothing feels as good as getting back home :) No matter what you heard on Parisians, forget about it; we're all about breaking those stereotypes at my house! Nothing but good fun and culture-sharing :))

Interests

I'm a HUGE sucker for cinema, and series; I go to the movies between 1 and 3 times per week, when my schedule allows it (or when I decide it allows it anyway ^^), watch quite a lot of movies at home, and yes, gotta admit it, burn a whole lot of hours a week watching series (GoT, Breaking Bad, Shameless, Banshee, Treme, Vikings, Girls, Braquo, The Wire, True Blood, New Girl...) You name it, I've seen it! :p one of my guilty pleasures.

After that comes partying; I live for the sound. My father is a jazz musician & teacher, and I've practiced music (piano & singing) on an academic level for a little over 10 years; music is a huge part of my life, I listen between 1 to 4 hours of music a day, usually. I love concerts, little gigs, DJ sets, operas, festivals, big bands, country blues rock saudade bluegrass R&B (the real one, as in old), folk afro-caribbean vibes rap Bollywood sounds, ambient lo-fi pop tech-house nu (and not so new) disco, and of course, my two favorites out of life, classical & jazz music. Anything from Bach to 2 Many DJ's, as long as it grooves!

I'm also quite the shopaholic, but I'm currently in remission (or trying my best ^^); I'm quite interested in fashion, photography, painting, and sculpturing, eventually design too; I go to the museum (so much to do in Paris :p) and to exhibits as often as I can. I also enjoy going to see plays, readings and conferences about various subjects (but no time for everything eh, also gotta study and work ;) I've also recently starting writing.

I'm involved in a few charities and citizen networks (as a donor mostly), and I also give blood from time to time. I've marched in Paris with friends to defend and support the legalization of same-sex marriage, and also on the 11th of January for the French Republican march. That's about it on the "civil involvement" part :)

And as said before, I love to travel, and food is my last but not least of péchés mignons! To win my stomach, is the way to my heart :p
