Overview
About Me
Hi everybody!
My name is Van, 22, and I am from Northern Germany (near Hamburg).
The first time ever, I will be travelling for 4 months, together with my boyfriend Philipp, 23. We'd love to make the full travelling experience, including couchsurfing and therefore meeting locals!
We hope that there will be still some place left for total Couchsurfing Newbies without any ratings. We promise you that we are open-minded, friendly, respectful and clean travellers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
1. Intercultural experiences: I want to get to know new friends and their lives in another country.
2. Authentic travelling: I love exploring new cities, but not only touristic attractions. I am grateful for every local recommendation and open for shared explorations. Cities are more than buildings. I want to get to know the people and the life behind those walls.
3. Last but not least: Low budget = more cities and more people I can get to know = more experiences
Interests
I am kind of a calm and modest person who is happy when having some food and people I like around me.
In my spare time, I like sewing clothes and decoration for me, my friends and family.
Understanding cultures, identities and the mind of people was always kind of my interest. I have vietnamese parents but was born and raised in Germany, so interculturality was always a huge part of my life. It can be something colorful and fulfilling, but also very confusing. Since 2015, I am studying Cultural Studies in order to understand this modern phenomenon and to realise its potential.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like watching (more or less) good series and some movies. I am easy fascinated and I love to dive into the universe of a series (e.g. Doctor Who, Flash, Arrow, Downton Abbey, Avatar, ...). It doesn't need to be a high quality production as long as I am entertained and having fun watching it.
My favourite movie is "Pride and Prejudice". I love costumes and settings in the past.
Give me a Doctor Who book with the 10th, 11th or 12th Doctor in it and I'll read it in an hour.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am fully grateful for having a big family in Vietnam which I am regularly visiting.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share with you some thoughts about identity, culture, diversity, communication and reality.
One of my biggest learnings so far:
You have your own perspective and that's good. You don't need to change your perspective, but be open and always try to understand other ones.
What I Can Share with Hosts
1. Respect for you and your home.
2. Good conversations about my life, your life, the world and our imaginations.
3. Experiences from Germany, France and Vietnam, their language and culture.
4. Shared dinner and limited cooking skills.
