About Me

Though native to the Big Island of Hawaii, I have spent most of my life on the move. I have lived in Los Angeles, Northern Idaho, Washington, Spain, Sweden.... and hopefully many more places in the future. I am interested in cultures and preserving them, so the life of a rolling stone is the life for me. I enjoy listening to other people's perspectives on life and the experiences that have shaped them into who they are.

Here are some fun facts about me:

1. I love the game Trivial pursuit, and will play it any day and any time.
2. I would like to give a TED Talk someday
3. My favorite artist is Salvador Dali.
4. My family has lived in Hawaii since the 1800s.
5. It is on my bucket list to learn how to yodel.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music genres are soul, funk, alternative, indie rock, jazz, and folk. My favorite song is "Take Off Your Cool" by Andre 3000 ft. Norah Jones.

My Favorite movies are a mix of really pensive/ thoughtful ones and just plain stupid. A few favorites are: "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist" (you must see it, if you haven't already), "Big Fish", and "Harold and Maude".

My favorite books are Life of Pi by Yann Martel and anything by Jonathan Safran Foer and David Sedaris. Though I am willing to branch out to new authors and unknown stories :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was lucky enough to work on a boat out of Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona for a year and a half. There, I spent my mornings swimming with dolphins and my nights with the manta rays...and occasionally we got the thrill of swimming with a 14 foot tiger shark named Laverne.

But the best experience by far was swimming with a humpback whale mother and calf. They were 50 ft below, and magnificently giant. Being so close to them was otherworldly, and I was smiling from ear to ear all the way back to the harbor,

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a firm believer in storytelling as a way to preserve culture, so I would love to sit around and exchange myths, history, and tales over some drinks and good food.

And if you're lucky enough I might even teach you one of my corny jokes ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest, I will be sure to be polite and respectful to you and your property. Also, there will be no lacking in cheesy jokes and ridiculous stories.
