About Me

Hi! I'm a 24-year-old Belgian (‘from the hellhole called Brussels’ according to Trump). I’m planning on doing a SA trip. Since I plan on leaving early March, I though it would be nice to start in Rio de Janeiro, for the Rio Carnival. Then continue to Sao Paulo where I already know some people I met during my studies abroad in Madrid, Spain. My route is not fixed at all atm, but I’d love to see Buenos Aires, Chile and Peru. I'm looking for a travel companion to have a laugh with and more importantly to not get lost by myself in the narrow streets of Colombia or Brazil (although everyone tells me security in SA has improved a lot so take that Donald ‘bad hombres are crossing the border’ Trump, FAKE NEWS). I speak a moderate (B1) level of Spanish and I’m eager to improve. Therefore, it would be nice if I’d find someone with the same mindset who also likes to have conversations in Spanish. Yes, I’ll be the stubborn answering you in Spanish because I want complete emersion in this language (NERD alert). Anyway if you don’t smell like a Camembert (French cheese ; for Americans, that is the country next to the hellhole country) and are not easily offended by stereotype jokes, not easily bored by movie quotes ‘You know hew they call a quarter pounder with cheese in France?’ feel free to send me a PM. During my grand tour I’ll try to combine urban exploring, mountain hikes and relaxing at the beach. Hedonism à la Bacchus will be alternated with the occasional reflective conversations on top of the mountain. I’m still considering working in hostels from time to time, or to do some voluntary work at the Caribbean beaches of Costa Rica to go easy on my budget. Although I have some budget, I feel like I’ll get a better feel of a country when working there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
