About Me

**I have a family now and I’m living with a baby, so I no longer host people in my (our) home. Sorry. But please do feel free to contact me if you just want to meet up with a local guy for a coffee, a beer or some sightseeing around town, I do sometimes miss my days as a traveller and a couchsurfer :) **

Hi! I love to travel and like meeting new people, and Couchsurfing is a nice way to do that. I grew up in a family where, perhaps a bit unusual for my country if not entirely uncommon, both friends, distant relatives and strangers where always welcome to stay for a while if they needed a place to sleep when in town, so welcoming new people into my home has never been a difficult choice.

I have written quite a bit of additional information under "My Home". I get a lot of requests from people who want to stay with me, I guess Oslo is an expensive city, but I have to decline most of them. Often because I simply don't have time to host, I might have other plans already, but sometimes there are other reasons too. So please read what I have written before requesting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people and perhaps make some new friends, both in Norway and abroad when I travel myself.

By the way, I am not on Couchsurfing because I just want to be nice to random travelers. I am hosting for the sake of good company, fun, and to make new friends and acquaintances around the world. If I invite you to stay with me, or accept your request, I will do my best to spend time with you even if it's a workday, and invite you to come along with me if I have plans to hang out with friends and such. And I kind of expect that the people I host in return also will be interested in doing things together. If you only want a free place to sleep and that's it, I'm not the right host for you. Sorry.

The same goes when I travel myself. I'm not poor, I can easily afford a hotel or a hostel. If I contact you and ask if you can host me, or just meet up, it's because I genuinely think that you seem like a cool person to meet and get to know a bit :)

As mentioned, I get quite a few requests every time I change my profile to "maybe accepting/accepting" for a while. I guess Oslo is an expensive city to stay in a hostel or hotel. Some of the people requesting have on the other hand obviously not even bothered to read my profile, and are probably just sending out the same copy-paste mail to a bunch of people. To tell me that you have read my profile here and are actually interested in staying with me, just not anyone who provides a free bed and breakfast to save a bit of money, please write the word "juletre" somewhere in your mail :) I might still say no, but at least I will take the time to write you back and tell you why if so.

Interests

Besides travelling, I like to do things like climbing, salsa dancing, hiking in the mountains, fishing, or just to go out for drinks or a good meal.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelling by car for two months across Africa, mostly sleeping outdoor in tents.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I would consider myself a rather average salsa dancer, but I'm pretty good at dancing bachata (If you don't know what it is, Google it). I can teach you that, it's easy. I also know a few nice dishes I can teach you how to cook, and quite a bit about history and about my country and society.
