Overview
About Me
My name is Niels, born and raised on Dutch soil, and almost done with my bachelor in Medicine. Before I go out there and start my -hopefully- long and succesful career as a doctor, I'd like to have an adventure, see something of the world. Canada is quite a big part of the world, and a rather beautiful one too, so I figured, why not?
I'm told I'm a generally laid-back, social and fun guy to be around. I have a solid group of friends for which I care deeply. I've never had much trouble connecting with others, but I'm not gonna lie and say I make a new friend around every corner either.
If were gonna be honest, I'm not that great in stressful situations, or when I feel I have to meet expectations -sometimes of others, but often my own-. Since being a doctor involves a good deal of stress, this whole journey is also almost..well..therapeutic. Meeting and staying with a whole lot of new people, strangers, is really exciting but also a challenge, one in which I hope to conquer those nerves.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm planning a hitch-hiking trip across Canada, (I'll touch down in Toronto, then I'll be making my way towards Vancouver) and I plan to meet as many people as possible. What better way to do this than to combine hitch-hiking with couchsurfing? Having a place to stay inbetween highways is not entirely unimportant, either.
Interests
I'm quite fond of gaming and reading, but what I enjoy most is spending time with my friends, be it a nice night out, going to the movies, taking a swim or a jog, or simply having dinner.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I enjoy Drum and Bass, but I dont really have any particular dislikes as far as music goes.
Movies: Tough one, I've seen a lot of 'em. The recent Interstellar was a really good Sci-Fi, in my opinion. Cabin in the Woods is my favourite Horror. 21/22 Jump Street gave me a good laugh. I'm sure there are a ton of others I enjoyed, but it's hard to keep track.
Books: The Acacia Trilogy is a very nice read. Currently I'm reading the Dark Tower saga by Stephen King.
Games: Everything RPG. The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Dragon Age, Mass Effect. I've played and still play quite a few MMORPG's, aswell.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've....bungee-jumped 138 meters? I'm still young, and I honestly haven't done all that many amazing things. Hitch-hiking across Canada would be pretty amazing. It's a start.
