About Me

Hey, I am Jessica. It's a pleasure to describe a little more about me.

I born in South of Brazil and during all my life I lived there, I did my primary and secondary school and started my college (Civil Engineering) there, but with an opportunity from government, I came to study a little more about my undergraduate in US. Then, since August 2014, I have being in Philadelphia studying in Temple University. I really like my major and the things that I can do with this. My dream is to be a professor in this area, maybe to teach some calculus or structure, I mean, something that I learned in my entire college. Try to help people to understand and reach their objectives.

About my lovers... I like dogs, my parents have one Golden Retriever and he is part of our family, but I didn't meet him yet and I am too excited for this moment. I also like brazilian food, I am suspect to say it, but I think that is the best in the world. In Brazil, I born in a island and most of the days there, where my parents living. Most of the days, when we had time, me and my friends were go to the beach to admire the sunset. Some weekends, I went to the beach to look some friends surf in their boards. Well, I miss times like that. I had great times in Philadelphia, with friends that the exchange program gave to me. But sometimes its hard to stay way from my family, even keeping contact through the skype. Another thing that I miss in Philly is the beach, I think if Philly had beach I could live there all my entire life. I love this city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I think is a good way to exchange experiences. Since I arrived in US, I am looking to absorb the culture, language, accents and habits. The world is to big and we will never know how big it is. But we can try to figure out staying close to people and their culture. If you go to every city and stay in a hotel, okay, could be nice, but if you stay in a house, were people living you will learn so much more. Maybe you can meet places that wasn't in your list, places that will make the difference in your travel. For me Couchsurfing is a way to meet people and their culture, with this, meet well the city. Also I am on it because it is a good way to save money, and consequently travel more.

Interests

My interest is just to live. Live with happiness and doing things that I love. My parents always sad to me do things that will make me happy, but never hurt someone doing this. Then, since I get it like a philosophy of my life, I am trying to do great things in my life, always thinking in the people around me. I would like to improve my knowledge, always and always, even in my future career or about the world and its culture. I also I have interest to travel the world, and meet places as much as I can. I have this dream and I will do it when I got a stable life, maybe after take my degree on college or take a good job.

Music, Movies, and Books

Its hard for me to say what is my favorite music, I think I am an eclectic person. But I can define some style of music that always turn my days better. Surf music, I can say that this music relaxes me and make me feel thoughtful. Sometimes, in the gym I like to listening some beating strong and loud. Well, I think that the moment define what I like to listening. Depends on the situation, with I am alone or not. About the movies and books, I can't say what I like more. But I have a good admiration for some. Dan Brown is a good writer that make me happy when I read his books. I like the way that he write, is like the same character, but in other story. And I also like Agatha Christie, she is good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done, well I think that was when I left my family in Brazil and came to US alone. Before to come, I lived with my parents and sister. How I am the little daughter, everything was easier for me. When I arrived in US, I had to learn about my needs. I had to learn to cook, to clean my stuff, to pay my bills and a lot of things. For me was a big achieved, I grew in one year more than I expected. I am another Jessica, I can do things for me alone. But another thing that I learned more than ever, is about friends. No matter where you are, what are you doing or the way you think, you will need people. You will need friends. I am really thankful to have this experience, and more thankful for the people that I met, people that I want to keep contact and a friendship forever.

Teach, Learn, Share

About what teach, learn and share, I think that one word express it: experience. I always have something that I have experimented or that I have to learn about or some experience that I can share. Life is like a school, you are always learning about something or teaching someone, with this, sharing your knowledge, culture, language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

With hosts, I can share about my culture, language and habits. One of the best things that I can share is about Brazilian food. In Brazil we have a lot of typical food, that are amazing. I also can share about my experiences in US, places and people that I have met. I can share a room in my home and also to be a host.
