Overview
About Me
Hello to everyone who's reading my profile right now, whether you do it intentionally or by accident. My name is Martin, which is a rather common name here in the Czech republic, but I dare to say that though my name is ordinary, I'm not an ordinary man. And in no way is that statement meant to sound supercilious or condescending. The thing with me is that I really enjoy being myself. After all, I have no reason to pretend to be anyone else but my tiny unimportant self. I'm not judgemental and I try not to have any preconcieved notions, but one thing I truly cannot stand are people who obviously pretend. What do they pretend, you ask? I does not really matter. Since if you cannot be yourself for a day, how are you going to deal with the rest of your life?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started travelling when I was a relatively young lad, around 11 years old. Back then, I used to sing in a children's choir; and as we did concert tours all around Europe, my passion for travelling was starting to form and become more and more solid. Nevertheless it took me a really long time to figure out what did I actually liked about all of those trips; and that is learning new things, discovering somewhat peculiar habits of certain cultures and - most importantly - meeting new people. That's why I really joined Couchsurfing. Because at the end of the day, everyone's life story is interesting and everybody has an experience to share. And I'd gladly listen to them all.
Interests
It might seem strange to some of you out there, but I find philosophy incredibly fulfilling at times – it is somewhat a hobby of mine, one that fell in love with while studying abroad, in the lovely city of Dijon in Burgundy, France. Others might be shocked upon discovering my passion for many things you would nowadays call old-fashioned. But let's be honest, who doesn't love listening to vinyls and old audio cassettes if the mood is right? Wearing a vest or even a bow tie casually seems unfathomable to you? My apologies then, guess you will never truly understand me. To calm you down however, I also enjoy doing many activities considered rather normal: I play piano, I sing and I write poetry from time to time.
