Overview
About Me
First off, we pride ourselves in -and very much value- personalized requests. We don't expect some in depth analysis of how your character would go well with ours. Sadly, CS is swamped with copy & paste spamming requests. If you simply take the 2 minutes to skim over our profile and write a couple of sentences about what you like about us/what we have in common, you'll be fine. (Tip: using a template isn't a bad thing, as long as you insert a few lines in between indicating you've read the profile ;) ).
Also, we have sadly made the experience so far that many people refrain from hosting couples. Let me assure you that we are not "coupley" in any case and have been together long enough that we have our complete, unwavering focus on getting to know the people we are staying with, not each other.
_________________________________________
We are two Biologists from Germany and are living in Zurich, currently doing our PhDs in Virology/Food Microbiology. We love to travel and spent two month in 2015 on our first major backpacking trip through Europe! As we were traveling together, a joint profile seems like the best option, but here's a short description for each of us.
Sonja (The Navigator): Amazing trip managing skills, does all the short and long term planning. Always optimistic, always happy -a key characteristic needed for the job, and has never failed us even on rougher traveling days. Warm-hearted with the ability to see the best in all people. Her ability to always be on top of a situation is best described by "10% luck, 40% skill, 50% concentrated power of will".
Jonas (The Communicator): Able to strike up a conversation with nearly any person and find a common basis on which to easily pass and evening chatting. More of a "reactor" type -coming into play when immediate decision making is needed. Bringing a tad more scepticism to the table, offers a great balance to situations where too much optimism isn't always the best answer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As meeting new people, especially fellow travelers, locals and anyone else we meet along the way is the highest point on ourt agenda, couchsurfing is the ideal place to do so. We have found that almost all fellow couchsurfers have a similiar mindset and are the perfect basis to get to know the place we are staying as well as share invaluable stories, experiences and memories -as well as create new ones. We are looking forward hosting travelers once we get back from our trip as much as we enjoy surfing couches in yet undiscovered places.
