About Me

🇭🇺 | 🇬🇧 🇷🇺* 🇩🇪** (🇫🇷***)

🔨 Nowadays I work as a content producer (#latecapitalism), but in fact I’m an aspiring academic in the field of Humanities.
🎓 “Pardon me, but, please, don’t confuse your subjectivity with art.” (Traditional German recipe since the days of that silly old Georg Wilhelm Friedrich.)
🌍 Right-handed leftis… well, I love being reduced to a cultural stereotype.

* Чуть-чуть, с милым акцентом. (Учился „понемногу, чему-нибудь и как-нибудь”.)
** Nicht besonders gut... überhaupt ziemlich schlecht.
(*** Désespérément, hélas, sans succès. Comme une vache hongroise.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At some stage of my life I was forced to learn some Latin and once, all of a sudden, I’ve encountered the most useful ancient saying ever: the best, if you don’t quote it at all. The Roman emperor Titus used to say “amici, diem perdidi” (my friends, I’ve lost a day) in case if he realized in the evening that he haven’t done any favor to anyone.

Take his advice and help others.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am addicted to the movies of Woody Allen (again and underlined three times in red: his art, not to his personality).

In regard to literature, I’m pretty much of an omnivore (nevertheless, incredibly long 20th-century examples of prose literature produced by bald European guys are my weaknesses). Actually, Jorge Semprún’s “The Long Voyage” kept me thinking long after turning its last page.

Can’t really name a single work of fine art as my favourite, but in general I prefer Manet over van Gogh.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I was in the room in Prague, from which the devil dragged Faust’s soul right to the hell and left a still visible black spot on the ceiling while doing so (at least, according to the local legend). That was pretty awesome.

Also, when I was 14 I won a competition in Nuclear Physics (with 1,5 points from the 100).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a bit of my native language and about Hungarian culture (e.g. many stuff were done by the government over here without my consent and of many other locals) and we can improve our language skills together.

I tend to almost never regretting a talk and in most of the time I easily find some common subject with almost anybody.

Also, I’m a pretty good listener.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Firstly, my wonderful company.

Secondly, piles of literary narratives. I’m a lovechild of Scheherazade and Švejk by definition, not to mention that Reich-Ranicki was my godfather.

Thirdly... well... my gastronomical knowledge! (Actually, it’s in inverse proportion to the scale of my interest, but nevermind, I can present sandwiches as traditional Hungarian dishes anytime.)

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Austria, Belarus, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Czech Republic, France, Hungary
