About Me

Hello!

As you can see it up there, I said that I grew up in Rio. Well, it's not that it isn't true, but I'd like to be a little more specific ('cause that makes a lot of difference for me).

The truth is... I'm a bit of a nomadic person. I did spend most of my (short) life in Rio, but I also lived in Paris for 6 months when I was 6 (sadly forgot most of my French though), in Juiz de Fora (A city in Minas Gerias, Brazil as well) for 3 years during my teenagerhood, in Montreal for 1 year when I was 15/16 and then, finally, I got back to Rio to finish high school and go to university, and have been here ever since. Which it's a little weird. But anyway.

What I'm trying to say is that I have sort of a special relationship with places and cities and moving... I don't like to think of any place I am as something estable, as if I'd be there for the rest of my life. I like to think there will always be somewhere else, some place I might not even know the exitence of right now, but that might make me very happy someday

When I'm somewhere new, I like to get lost. Really. Take the longest path, get fooled by the map, walk for 2 hours when I could have taken a 20 minute bus. That's my favourite way to get to know a place, to find that little cute (and preferably cheap) restaurant, that lovely bookstore, that empty park, some peaceful street, see an intriguing person walking by. It's cheap, it's fun, and I feel like I get the town's spirit better than going to touristic spots. Oh I also love going to the movies when I'm travelling, but I guess I don't really know why, it just makes me feel really good.

Amongst my favourite things in life are: travelling, eating, Totoro and cats.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really love travelling and getting to know new places and people, and couchsurfing seemed a great way to enjoy all of it even more. I realized how amazing it could be when I stayed over at my cousin's place in Buenos Aires and it was a whole different travelling experience. I got to see a different side of the city, meet many more people, cook dinner with them, anwyay, it was amazing.

So I thought making new friends in different places of the world could be awesome, get to know more of each culture and maybe grow a very long friendship, even if we get to see eachother just once in a while. There will always be internet, right?

Music, Movies, and Books

Huh... I'm pretty flexible with music. I used to look a lot for new artists and all, but today I pretty much go with my friends' tips, which are pretty good. Anyway, I guess two of my favourite bands right now are El Efecto and Arcade Fire.

I'm a film student, so I really like movies and see lots of them, even though I've been a bit tired of it theses days... we can talk about it later. Anyway. I guess my favourite movies (today, becuase I'm always changing) are Boyhood, Branco Sai Preto Fica (a must see), Her, My Neighbour Totoro and Mauvais Sang.

Now, concerning books, even though I really like to read I've lost the habit of it, for fiction oeuvres, which I've been trying to regain. But right now I'd say my favorite book is A Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Marquez. Oh I also love comic books, such as Persepolis and Blankets.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Huh... I don't know... Well I've just finished my shortfilm, which you might consider as amazing since it's whole lot of fucking hard work. But... I don't know. Maybe when we get to talk I'll think of something better.
