About Me

Hi there !
I'm a French exchange student in Australia for a year, in Monash university, in Clayton.
I arrived in Australia in July and I'm just loving it, especially Melbourne and its hipster vibes.
Before coming to Australia, I hitchhiked in Europe with a group of 25 friends and acquaintances (yes, you read well, we were 25 haha) from Paris to Poland and then from Poland to Durham in England. I just adored it (even though hitchhiking may be hard sometimes) and I used couchsurfing for the first time during this trip ! This trip wouldn't have been the same without my four cousurfing hosts, and I'm so grateful to them for making me discover their city through a new lens.
Now, I'm backpacking around Australia and South East Asia but I'm missing the couchsurfing experience. Because I'm travelling with a group of friends, I don't meet that many local people.
Also, I'm enthusiastic, optimistic I guess, and I would like to be a journalist or to work in public affairs. I'm passionate with gender studies, I'm also feminist (don't be afraid, I'm kind haha). I love running, hiking, reading, and meeting new people (that's part of the reason I would like to be a journalist).
I guess that's more than enough, I'm also trying to improve my English and lose my French accent hopefully.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So as I said before, I'm on Couchsurfing to meet new people. I'm convinced that you can learn a lot from the others, and social skills are more than important in everydays life.
I just wanna question my way of thinking and living by getting to know people that I would have never met otherwise. I wanna get out of my bubble.

Interests

- running : I used to be in an athletics club in France and now I would like to get involved in Monash athletics or running club. That's the new aim of the semester... I love cross country, with the mud and the final sprint...

- hanging out with my friends and my family : cafes, hidden bars, chill out home parties. I don't really like clubs (ok, I do not like them at all haha) but I'm always down for meet ups.

- travellling : yes, I love it. I used to travel a lot with my family. I just caught up with them in Vietnam last December. I also did a lot of backpacking in Europe (the hitchhiking trip), in Australia and in South East Asia. With my mother, we went to India twice, I don't have that much words to describe these trips but I can tell you that I can't wait to come back there.

- reading : especially newspapers, gender studies articles, and some fiction books as well.

- journalism and current affairs : I'm a freelance journalist for a French newspaper and I'm a student in Politics and Arts - the name of my home university in France is Sciences Po Paris, it's an abbreviation of "Sciences Politiques Paris", and "Sciences Politiques" means in English... "Politics". There you go !

Music, Movies, and Books

Hummmm now I'm listening a lot to French music, so I'm not sure that you know the following French groups : La Femme, Fauve. I also love Parov Stelar and basically I love listinening to pop/rock/indie music. And sometimes French rap music (I don't manage to understand the lyrics in English-speaking rap...).

For the movies, my favourite movie is Blue is the warmest colour (La vie d'Adele in French). Otherwise, I watch a few series : House of cards, Orange is the new black, Gilmore girls, and, last but not least, How I met your mother (That's the only series with whom I managed to watch all the seasons and episodes... So proud !)

For the books, I don't read a lot of fiction books. But I just read an empowering book about feminism that I adored, called "King Kong theorie" (in French) by Virginie Despentes.
