About Me

My name is Kayti and I own the last traveling ten-in-one carnival style traditional touring sideshow group called Tinderbox Circus Sideshow. When seeking lodging there will be any number of people from 1-6 depending on whose on the road with us at that time, but that will be specified in each surf request we post on here. I created this profile primarily as a way to find crash spots while on tour, but will utilize it for personal trips if needed.

When taking guests, my home is a 5 bedroom, 4 bath gigantic home with two cats and one dog (tiny) in residence. My husband and I keep a decently clean home with two other roommates. All tile flooring. We accommodate to every guest as best we can.
Even when I'm on the road, he can still take guests.
We have one couch in the living room that sleeps more comfortably than expected that sleeps one. Anywhere between one and three open bedrooms depending on who's at home at the moment (all roommates are touring performers). There's two couches in the basement that are also deceivably comfortable...sleeps three or four altogether depending on your preference. We've also been known to turn the living room into a blanket fort from time to time for guests as well. :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel often and know what it's like to be on the road pinching pennies. I'm on Couchsurfing to offer my home in Lexington, Kentucky out to those who need it when I'm at home, and to find places for myself and my troupe members to stay while we're on the road.

Interests

I (Zak and myself) spend over half the year touring the United States (over 200 shows a year), so I rely heavily on entertainment in the form of music, audio books, podcasts, and sightseeing (old school Americana is my favorite - Muffler Men, Offbeat Attractions, etc.). My husband, Eric, also tours extensively with his accordion, so I love hearing about other peoples' travels and getting the good tips on where to go.
I've made my career of running this sideshow, so my interest lie primarily in the performing arts, specifically in the history and lore of the carnivals, circuses, and sideshows long past.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ford Theatre Reunion (my husband's band :P), The Goddamn Gallows, Coheed and Cambria, Circus Contraption, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Pine Box Boys, The Legendary Shack Shakers, Lady Gaga, Metallica, etc. etc. etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've built a DIY, from the ground up business. I began this venture at the age of 19, and now, 7 years later, it's very successful and is a primary source of income for myself and those that are part of it. It's my passion and I'm happy to be able to share it with the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my experiences on the road by myself and with my group as well as a wealth of knowledge in social media marketing, small business mechanics, travel ideas, and DIY crafting and the such.
I'll go ahead and say, though, if we're touring, I may be mostly useless with information. :D But I'll try if you have any questions!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories from the road.
Touring advice for performers.
My cleaning abilities (I can't leave a house without at least doing the dishes) :D
