About Me

I'm a curious, grateful, caring person that sees the abundance and positivity of life and is passionate about food & nature. I grew up in Canada, lived in Australia for 12 years, could add "traveller" & "wanderer" to my qualifications but am planning to return to my Atlantic Canada roots to settle later this year so I can start a farming enterprise in 2018.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've travelled quite a lot over the years, mostly when I was in my teens and 20s, so couch surfing wasn't available then. Seems like a great way to meet people, hear their stories and thoughts about life and all that and get their local tips. I have always found my cross cultural and/or travel experience to be enhanced the more I engage with people living in the places I'm visiting.

Interests

I'm quite the generalist and am interested and curious about just about everything, but here are a few of the themes that have resonated for a large portion of my life. Cooking and food is my passion - I eat wholesome and local as much as I can and love to experiment with dishes from all over the world. I love the buzz of travel and discovery. Reading and yoga, hiking and swimming and most things nature based, but I love wandering little towns, markets and museums too. I'm Buddhist and a meditation instructor.

Music, Movies, and Books

Indie, alternative, folk, jazz, classical and everything in between. Sci-fi & foreign cinema geek. I mostly read non-fictional gardening, resiliency, ecology, permaculture and Buddhist based books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in the jungle of Borneo and studied orangutans.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can guide you in a meditation session, cook a meal, show you a few yoga moves, and present some ideas on how to grow some food in your garden or deck.
