I'm a very easy-going guy who gets along with just about anyone. I'm always up for having a good time. I enjoy going out with friends, spending time with family and eating good food. I've always wanted to be a doctor so I'm very fortunate to be able to study medicine. At this stage I'm all about enjoying life and pursuing happiness.

I grew up in a smaller university town, Potchefstroom. I have moved to Pretoria to study and it's been one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm not on CS to offer or get free living. You can go to a hostel for cheap accommodation. I want to meet new and interesting people. CS gives the amazing opportunity to stay with people and spend time with the in their city. Getting to know new people and make new friends. And hosting gives you the opportunity to travel the world while sitting on your couch :).

I recently started traveling and I just realized how great people are. Ive met some amazing people and made lots of new friends. It means so much more to me than actually visiting places.

Interests

I like having a good time with my friends, going out or just chilling by a fire with some good music. Or having a "traditional" South African braai with family and friends while watching sport or just having a good time.

I love all kinds of music, I listen to music whenever I get the chance.
I've always been very interested in science and by extension, medicine. My other interests include sport, hunting, shooting and the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. I especially like singer songwriter things and indie and folk. But I like everything haha from classical to rock to pop and country. My favourites include:

I like comedy, action, sci-fi, crime and dramatic movies. I can basically watch any decent movie.

I adore series and I watch it religiously. My favourites include House, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, Shameless, Grey's Anatomy, Breaking Bad, New Girl, Suits, Franklin & Bash, Game of Thrones and much more. I recently watched an anime series, Death Note, which I enjoyed a lot.

I only really started reading about two years ago. I really like the Steve Jobs biography, couldn't put it down. Though to be fair I am a bit of an Apple fan. I also like reading about behavioural psychology: I liked books like Predictably Irrational and Top Dog The Science of Winning and Losing. I also like a bit of fantasy like A Song of Fire and Ice. One of my all-time favourites is To Kill a Mockingbird. And I also really like The Perks of being a Wallflower.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently backpacked through Europe spontaneously without any plans. It was amazing and I'm definitely doing it again as soon as I can :).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach my home language, Afrikaans. And I'd love to learn some other languages. I can also teach other to prepare some South African food and I'd love to learn some traditional foreign dishes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can show you around the city of Pretoria. We can have drinks and go out. I stay in a house with 5 other students. It's a very fun and social environment. If you are coming during our breaks from university I might be able to show you other parts of the country. My sister and brother stay in Cape Town. There are also some nice game reserves and attractions close to Pretoria. The Kruger National Park is 4 hours drive away.
