I’m Gert-Jan, a curious maker and teacher from the Netherlands, living close to the sea. I spend a lot of time outdoors, especially on the beach, where I create large drawings in the sand using a rake. Temporary art that disappears with the tide — I love the idea of impermanence.

I enjoy creating and exploring: drawing, technology, VR, drones, but also good conversations, quiet moments, and sharing meals. In my work I combine creativity and digital skills, and I’m inspired by people who follow their own passions.

For me, Couchsurfing is not about a free place to stay, but about exchanging stories. I enjoy learning from other cultures, cooking together, taking long beach walks, or simply talking about life.

I’m calm, open-minded, and respectful, and I believe real connections grow from genuine curiosity about each other.

I’m curious about many things, especially where creativity, technology, and human connection meet. I love drawing and visual art, from simple lines to large-scale projects in nature. The beach is one of my favorite places — not just to walk or swim, but to create and reflect.

I’m fascinated by technology as a creative tool: VR, drones, digital making, and finding playful ways to connect the digital world with the physical one. At the same time, I really value slowing down — good conversations, shared meals, quiet moments, and being present.

I’m interested in spirituality, philosophy, and the stories people carry with them. I enjoy listening, exchanging ideas, and learning how others see the world. Whether it’s talking late into the night, cooking together, or watching the tide come in, I appreciate simple moments that feel real.
