Overview
About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Dương, and I am an English teacher from Kon Tum, a mountainous province in Central Vietnam. I have over six years of teaching experience, mainly working with children and teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds.
From 2026, I will be heading to New Zealand to pursue a Master of Education (M.Ed.) at the University of Canterbury as a recipient of the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship. This journey marks an important milestone in my professional development and my long-term commitment to improving English education for students in underserved areas.
Through my teaching experience, I have realized that many children in my province have limited opportunities to practice spoken English or engage in intercultural exchange. To respond to this need, I founded a non-profit initiative called KonTum Talks Club, which provides a free English-speaking environment and promotes cultural sharing between local students and international visitors.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A colleague once introduced Couchsurfing to me as an effective way to enhance English learning through real-life interaction. Since then, I have hosted many down-to-earth and inspiring people, and the memories we’ve created together are truly unforgettable.
Interests
My life goal is to wander every corner of this world, slow down, and forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I am especially keen on trekking, as it allows me to connect deeply with nature and local landscapes. Recently, I have also developed a strong interest in pickleball, which I find both fun and a great way to stay active and meet new people.
In addition, I am deeply passionate about photography, particularly capturing people, moments, and everyday cultural life.
