About Me

22 years old. Grew up in Zoetermeer, still live in Zoetermeer. I study in Leiden (beautiful picturesque village) and would love to live there. I'm also a member of AEGEE (www.aegee.org), which is a European student organisation with antennas in 40 countries throughout Europe. A good way to get to know as much people in as much countries as possible!

Top four countries-to-visit:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Once I ate spaghetti bolognese in Lucca (Tuscany, Italy) at a place where only locals came. It looked shabby from the start. The cook was an overweight, short and grumpy Italian guy who was standing in a kitchen the size of an average shower. He was sweating buckets and had the dirtiest apron I had ever seen... The the food came: Best pasta ever. That's why I'm on Counchsurfing. Getting to know your culture through your eyes in places I would never know of or go to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went hitchhiking to Lille (France) and we got stuck in Dordrecht (Netherlands). Desperate as I was, I decided to hold up the sign to a passing truck. The truck stopped and two guys got out and said we could go in the back... Turned out they were delivering beds to their new owners. The truck was packed with soft matresses. Pitch-dark yet comfortable, we were dropped us off after an hour and we took a photo (see photos). An experience never to forget.
