About Me

--
I'm a global citizen. I believe that life is about learning and living. We learn from experiences, so I pursue any opportunity to have new experiences in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to meet culturally diverse people with a global perspective while traveling. Many of the most meaningful encounters of my life are with Couchsurfers.
-

Interests

My interests include human rights, traveling, languages, religions of the world, and most importantly the Deaf community. I attended a Deaf university and am now a teacher for Deaf children. I am somehow always in Latin America, so that may say something about my interests as well.

Once I won an award from Barack Obama for implementing a program to teach sign language and Deaf culture to elementary children.

I was Rishav’s first host and he was my first surfer. Three years later, I was able to stay with him in his village in India. It was amazing to make such a great friend through hosting a surfer and then be able to surf at his family’s home years later. Four years after that, I returned to India to attend his wedding, where I was even asked to perform a dance with his closest friends.
-

Teach, Learn, Share

Many people who have not visited the United States find it interesting to hear about my own experiences growing up in a family of 12 in a small town in the rural South. My upbringing is far from the stereotypical suburban/urban narrative of the country. I’m happy to share a different perspective of the USA if you’re interested to hear it!
I also love teaching others about Deaf culture and sign language.
-

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can provide you my appreciation, thoughtful conversation, and a lasting friendship! I haven’t met a couchsurfer that I don’t stay in touch with at least periodically.
-
Vengo siempre con mi agradecimiento, conversación, y amistad. Nunca he conocido a nadie por couchsurfing con quien no hablo ahora.
