Hi! I’m Audra, a journalist and multimedia storyteller, pursuing a Master’s degree in Journalism at Michigan State University as a Fulbright scholar. I’m a queer intersectional feminist who is learning everyday and is trying her best to be a kind human being 💜

Born and raised in a coastal city in Lithuania, I was further shaped by experiences of living in different places, including Amsterdam, Vilnius, Singapore, and now - Michigan. I’m absolutely in love with travelling and I feel very lucky to have built an international community around me.

I think that meeting new people is soo beautiful - I truly believe that we grow as human beings through encounters and experiences we share with each other. I get inspired by people’s personal stories. And I am convinced that everyone has a story to tell. And I’m here to listen to those stories as well as share mine.

When exploring cities, I like to wander around local neighbourhoods, explore hipster coffee shops, go to hip/funk/r&b/jazz bars, take photos and imagine myself just living there and enjoying the city. I am always down to go to community-driven events like Sofar Sounds or local storytelling places, improv clubs, etc.

I am also a nature kid who grew up camping in forests, loves making bonfires, watching sunsets, stargazing (however basic that sounds, I’m sorry). I want to see as many national parks in the US as possible!!

Music is also a very big part of my life - I play the piano, a little bit of guitar and ukulele and I’ve been singing since I was 6 years old. One of my most beloved pastime activities is singing/jamming with other people.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I have some close friends who have been part of the community for a long time and decided it’s time for me to join.

I love travelling and meeting new people so this seems like the perfect place to be. Also, I am living in a new country and am more than excited to find new connections and like-minded people all across the US!

Música, películas y libros

MUSIC 🎵

I love music and can really geek out about music theory sometimes. I’ve sung jazz, gospel, r&b, pop and played more classical music on the piano.

But when it comes to listening to music - my playlist is very eclectic and ranges from Lithuanian folk songs to funk or pop music.

Also, although I love singing, I usually cannot remember any lyrics of even my favourite songs 🤷‍♀️

MOVIES 🍿

Love watching movies although I wouldn’t call myself an expert or movie critic.

One of my favourite movies depicts an amazingly delicate love story between two women: Portrait of a lady on fire.

BOOKS 📚

I am doing my best to find the time and space for books now that I’m in graduate school.

Some of the books I really enjoyed reading: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Circe by Madeline Miller; Girl Woman Other by Bernardine Evaristo.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Just any spontaneous moments like skipping the last ferry home and staying overnight at the beach, watching the sunset and then waiting for the sunrise in the morning will always be part of my amazing memories.

I can always teach you some Lithuanian, which will make you so fun at the parties (how many people know Lithuanian after all!)

I am also always willing to teach anything music-related, I have given some singing classes before and I absolutely love it.

And finally - I love photography so if you need a new profile photo or just want to play around and enjoy a fun photoshoot - let’s do this.
