About Me

Hello!! My name is Iris and I am 26 years old! I was born in São Paulo, Brazil.
I am graduated in International Relations and I worked 5 years as a product analyst until I decided in 2016 to go for the biggest adventure of my life!! I quit my job, I got my money and I moved to Canada for a year! I have been living in Vancouver, BC for 14 months now and I am currently looking for more adventures!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Counchsurfing cause I believe that we are living in a new era, where help each other and learn with that makes more sense and is more valuable than any experience that you can have traveling and staying in a hotel. I spent my first 10 months in Vancouver living with a Canadian family, I did't pay anything for my room, but I helped babysitting their kids and helping around the house. I met them thanks for the website WorkAway and I have no regrets! That's why I am so excited to have my first experience on Counchsurfing!!!

Interests

I love traveling, getting to know new people, talking, watching movies, reading and eating. Yes, I am a food lover!!!!!! Aaand a wine lover!!! Lately, a beer lover too.

Music, Movies, and Books

That's a hard topic! But there are few books that I already read 2 or 3 times, cause they are really special for me: The perks of been a wallflower (Stephen Chbosky), Wonder (R.J. Palacio), The Diary of Anne Frank (Anne Frank), Depois daquela viagem (Valéria Piassa), The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini), Persian Girls (Nahid Rachlin), etc. Movies, I love movies, but I need to confess that I watch A LOT OF CHEESY movies (shame on me haha). But here there are my favorites "cut" movies, haha: The Help (I absolutely LOVE this movie), Hotel Rwanda, Forest Gump (any movie with Tom Hanks), Selma, Room ( I watched kind of recently after reading the book), The untouchables, The imitation game, The good lie, 12 years a slave, Life is beautiful, etc. Aaand here there are some of my favorite cheesy movies: Under the Tuscan Sun, Eat, pray and love, About time, The notebook, etc. <3

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I am definitely living the biggest adventure of my life! I quit my job, I got my money and I moved to Canada for a year! I spent my first 6 months as a student and now I have a Work and Holiday visa. It has been a huge and challenging experience for me for many reasons, but I am proud of myself. That's an experience that I will never look back in my life and think that I didn't do cause I was to afraid of!!! I am living it! It's happening!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well...sometimes I think that I have more things to learn than to teach. But everyone has a story to tell! I studied, I worked, I traveled (not much as I want to, but I have a huge list!) and I live! I love to talk! I love to share the things I am passionate for: movies, food, books, politics, history, religions, hope.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am super easy going and talkative! I love being with people, but I also love having a quiet time! My first language is Portuguese and I will be happy to help in case someones want to learn the language, I also would love to teach about my country and talk about the places I have been there. I will be happy to cook some Brazilian dish!!!!
