About Me
Hiya,
I'm Tuomo, a university student of English from Finland and a teacher to be. A friendly lad who gets well along with everyone and loves to have a pint or two in good company. I am interested in meeting new people, travelling, learning about other cultures, and practicing my language skills, which is basically why I'm on Couchsurfing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing community in the first place because I felt that it might be something worth trying: an opportunity to meet new, interesting people, and to travel in a budget-friendly manner (it's tough to make ends meet as a student...). I have not been superactive on Couchsurfing, but I feel that I've met some great people via Couchsurfing and it has provided me with some wonderful experiences. To my mind, Couchsurfing is a good way to meet and network with interesting, internationally-minded people, which is probably the primary reason why I'm part of the Couchsurfing community.
Interests
Languages, music, books (does it count as "literature" if you read crappy books and comics etc?), video games, sports, martial arts, beer, people, teaching and education, other cultures etc. There's a whole bunch of interesting things out there in the world so it's rather hard to give a comprehensive list here.

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste in music tends vary quite a bit from one extreme to another, and I often experience times when I listen extensively to a particular artist/genre/song. Lately I've been listening a lot to older punk bands such as The Clash and Ebba Grön, but tomorrow the playlist might contain something completely different. The Smiths, The Cure and Joy Division are also some of the bands which stayed with me over the years, and I must confess that there is always a special place for 70s and 80s cheesy heavy metal in my heart.
As for books, I read a lot of Swedish detective novels and English fantasy literature (swords, dragons, and damsels in distress. Tolkien and stuff, that is.). I also enjoy comics, and I find certain sadistic enjoyment even in reading books which are absolutely terrible. One could perhaps say that I'm a bookworm to an extent.
Unlike with books, I'm not too keen on watching films for some reason. I'm more of a series person, and I prefer to have my on-screen entertainment in several episodes instead of wathing epic three-hour-long films with special effect and all the rage. I'm probably too impatient for being an ideal film-enthusiast, unfortunately.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have spent two summers working in a guest house on Kökar which is a teeny-weeny island located at the southernmost part of Åland Islands. A great experience as I got to experience what it is like to live in the archipelago and met lots of tourists and other travellers from a range of different countries. :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
My soul and wonderful personality, of course. Or rather my bittersweet sense of humour.
Bad guitar and bass playing, singing.
