Über mich
I think describing oneself is often hard because we are constantly changing and adapting ourselves. Nevertheless, it's a useful fiction to speak about one's "essence" and I can't even say I've grasped the Buddhist concept of anatta (often translated as "no-self").
Having said that, I am a vegetarian guy that wants to help make the world a better place for every sentient being. I study Physics and there are two things that fascinate me the most about it: how mathematical abstraction helps us understand how things interact and how common (or not so common) phenomena arise from the interactions of immense amounts of particles, say atoms or molecules.
I think of myself as an open-minded person that really enjoys talking but easily and rapidly gets bored of small talk. I am very curious and I enjoy learning constantly.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I'm here because I find the idea of a supportive international community of travelers and wanderers very awesome.
The main reasons why I am on CS is that I like the idea of, besides visiting a place, getting to know a person that has lived there for a longer time than I have and can share with me their view of the place, their recommendations, their advice, etc. At the same time, I think it might be enriching for hosts (applies to me, too, whenever I am able to host!) to get an outsider's view of their city. Different perspectives are often refreshing, in a sense.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
MUSIC
I enjoy almost any kind of music, but have particular affinity for progressive styles, to the point of experimental, contemporary classical and atonal music. I love the fusion of different styles. Some favorites genres: metal, jazz, classical, avant-garde, and folk from all over the world.
BOOKS
I love reading and I do it every day. I almost always find myself reading non-fiction books about diverse topics: Economics, Physics, Neuroscience, Science, Music, History, Buddhism, meditation, etc.
I don't read literary works often, though there are some that I've enjoyed a lot. Some favorites are: Crime and Punishment, Les Misérables, El Aleph, and The Name of the Wind,
Finally, though I consider myself quite a reader, I mostly read are articles, essays, and scientific or philosophical papers. I am a big fan of Aeon and Nautilus magazines.
MOVIES
When it comes to movies, I must admit that I very seldom watch any, but I've enjoyed some of them, like: Avatar, Donnie Darko, Inception.
SERIES
I am also not a huge fan of series, but I have watched some. Favorites: Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman, South Park, Evangelion, and Death Note (watching it atm)
