About Me
My dream has always been to travel, I never wanted a career, mainly because I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I always dreamed in my late teens of just giving up everything and becoming "freelance in life" choosing freely where I wanted to be and what job I wanted to do.
This isn't out of lack of work ethic, I've always worked since the age of 14 when I picked up my first paper round until now in my boring 50 hour a week 9-9 office job.
Well, that's all about to change, I've quit my job and given up my house in search of this little thing called happiness, friendship and adventure!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Very soon my partner Liam (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/liamdobson) and I will be embarking on our new life. A life away from 9-9 call center work, away from government surveys and irate respondents. We've sacked off our jobs, and given up our house. (so unfortunately no hosting for us at this time! Once we settle we will return all the kindness.)
We're starting off in France and have arranged our first couple of Helpx's, our intention being to make life our full time jobs. Instead of working to fund our lives back home, we've decided we would rather work to help people achieve their dreams directly while giving us the freedom to explore our dreams as well.
Couchsurfing to us seems an extension of this, a fantastic opportunity to escape the monotony of hotels and hostels and integrate ourselves in the culture and the lives of others while hopefully giving something back; a good conversation, a nice meal or a interesting day.
Interests
I have a wide range of interests, I'm very outdoorsy, enjoying rock climbing, mainly bouldering. This takes up a big part of my free time either at the indoor climbing wall close to where I live or traveling further out into the Lake District or Peak District to sample natures finest crags and boulders.
I enjoy skateboarding, though I'm no Tony Hawk, my days of tricks are far behind me, although I do enjoy dabbling from time to time.
Hula hooping is another favorite activity of mine, nothing better than taking to the park or beach with a picnic and a hula hoop!
I enjoy most activities that I participate in, I may not be good at all of them, but like they say, it's the taking part that counts!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
WATCH THIS SPACE
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm very interested in language, not only learning a new language, but there's always room for improvement on your first language and what better way to do so than to get a different perspective. I'm very happy to sit down with someone whose first language isn't English and converse and share with them.
Having only one language is something that often frustrates me, I will be using my travels as a way to end my frustration, one word at a time if that's what it takes.
I've always believed that the best way to learn a language is to throw yourself in the deep end, I've always found it easiest to learn by doing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think it's difficult to pin down in words what I believe I can share with you. I believe that everyone has a infinite amount that they can give in many different ways. I guess what I mean is I don't know what I can share with you until I meet you. But I know that we can find something that we can share together even if its just that we are both interested in meeting new and different people.
I could offer to cook for you, but I don't know if you'd like me to cook,
I could offer to clean for you, but I don't know where you keep the bleach,
I could offer to teach you, but I don't know what you want to learn,
So I will just offer to meet you, be myself and go from there.
