About Me

CURRENT MISSION
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

-Mark Twain

ABOUT ME
Since I’ve been a little boy, I never have had the opportunity to spend my holidays in a faraway country due to several reasons - on the one hand, my father is a very ecoconscious person who does not really appreciate going on holidays by plane due to the environmental pollution. On the other hand, the flight for a five-headed family is quite expensive and costly.

Nevertheless I’m a very curious person and I love discovering nature, new cultures and food. I want to see and investigate our world.
Therefore I developed a dream about three years ago – the dream to travel the world. So I started to save money and to deal with the subjects of a trip around the world. Now, about two months after I finished school, the crunch mode has begun – I created a traveling route, I booked the necessary flights, I concluded my health insurance and I got several vaccinations.

For a journey like that - and also as a hoster - you have to bring along an important requirement - you have to be open-minded. I would describe myself as an open-minded, faithfully, and straightforward person. I'm an easy-going person and I do not demand high standards of anybody. I'm satisfied with the things I have and the way I grew up but I'm always looking for capturing new chances and opportunities. I'm always in motion and active, and I try to make the best of my life.

PHILOSOPHY
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”

-Pablo Picasso

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the very beginning - when I joined the couchsurfing community – I knew that I just entered a stunning network. I was truly enthusiastic about the possibilities of couchsurfing. After I have read several profiles, I was completely overwhelmed by the hospitality, closeness and the emotional attachment from people to other people they probably have not known the day before.
Therefore, in my opinion, couchsurfing embodies the purpose of a social network way better than common social networks like facebook or myspace. I just looked up the definition for a social network. They say that " a social network is a online-service that hosts a online-community in which user and members can communicate and interact". In my estimation, in those common social networks, there is no real communication, but data exchange.

Communication is not only about imparting information from A to B because the term ‘communication’ consists out of two parts – a verbal and a non-verbal part. Precisely why it is also about non-verbal-aspects like emotionality, gestures, facial expressions, intonation, body language, eye-contact, touching and emphases, which cannot be transferred in common social networks because there is only data exchange.

Couchsurfing enables people from all over the world to communicate because people are meeting locally. Therefore, the non-verbal aspect is considered and that is the fact I appreciate in couchsurfing. As I had three wonderful couchsurfing experiences, I’ m convinced that couchsurfing attributes a new meaning to the term ‘communication’.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCES
Due to my resolution to go on a trip around the world, I’m continuously depending on a place to sleep. On the one hand, couchsurfing enables travelers to stay the night in a private house/ apartment/ room, on the other hand – and that’s quite more important and valuable – you can meet new people, different cultures, various philosophies and delicious food.
When I’m back in summer 2016 I try to enable backpackers from all over the world to have a great time in Germany and to taste specialities from Baden-Baden.

Interests

I love discovering new things and I’m willing to get an insight in as many "genres" of life as possible, including sports, music, art, philosophy, religion, love and life in general.

Concretely, my interests involve table tennis, soccer, architecture, design, photography, biology, chemistry, art, watercolor-painting, drawing, cooking, diving, climbing, playing soccer, pool and teaching.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

The music I choose is highly depending on my current mood. I mainly listen to old school hip hop and rap music, but I also love the emotional and sensitive piano music by Ludovico Einaudi. Sometimes I also listen to some pop and deephouse tracks to chill out or to several rock music tracks.

My favorite artists are Eminem, Adele, Flume, Oliver Heldens

MOVIES
Inception, Avatar, Blood Diamond, King Kong, Total Recall, Hungergames

Although I have got some favorite movies, my taste of movies is quite versatile. I really appreciate action and adventure movies, but I also like comedy and drama movies. Often, I also watch documentaries about our space, history and innovative insights.

BOOKS
Lang Lang biography, Rich Dad poor Dad

To be honest, I do probably not read that kind of books the majority of my friends is reading because I do not really like the common "thriller" or "adventure novel". Therefore, my endurance is depending on my interest for the topic in the book. I really like biographies of celebrities or interesting persons, likewise humorous novels for men. Apart from that I spent most time with reading nonfiction about philosophy, religion, climate change, wealth, and biology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Since I travel I experienced many amazing things. Different people, food, cultures and religions. The crazy things you probably want to hear are the those:

I crossed Vietnam from the north to the south by motorcycle and thereby conquered one of the most terrifying traffic situations in the world.

I skydived at Mission Beach in Australia from 14`000 ft above the sea and parts of the Great Barrier Reef.

I climbed an active volcano in Indonesia and virtually choked by the sulfuric gas.

I did a 440ft Bungee jump in Queenstown in New Zealand.

I dove with 30 bullsharks in Fiji at Pacific Habor and watched the predators of the Pacific eating tuna heads right next to me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach you how to play tabletennis and how to do watercolor-painting
Learn: I am more and more interested in producing EDM music and working as a DJ. Besides I am interested in every kind of arty hobbies like dancing, singing, acting, designing, editing. If you can involve me in one of those I would highly appreciate that obviously!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live in a quite beautiful area of Baden-Württemberg - Baden-Baden - and sometimes I wonder why to travel the world – to be honest, I have got everything I want and need right in front of my entry door.

The surrounding villages are hosting beautiful natural spots - vines, forests, meadows, and fields. Furthermore I’m living near to the great city Baden-Baden in which I can show you where to party, to go for a trip, to listen to good music, to go for a drink, to go shopping, to relax and to gape.
