Overview
About Me
I'm at the moment a student in Tallinn University, studying social sciences. My my main interest being on minority issues and the effects of segregation in societies but also on a more global level. I have some professional background working on development aid from Finland and bunch of odd jobbs to support my travelling habit, all from tuk tuk driving in Cambodia, painting hostels in Mexico to more traditional renevation and building stuff in Finland.
As a person I like to think that I'm highly sociable and outgoing, happy with seeing new cities from the point of view of culture and night life, but also happy being just by myself and going for longer trekking trips sleeping in the nature and small villages.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Especially in the case of bigger cities I find that it takes a very long time to get into the actual pace -and to get the vibe of the place. Also to find the deeper more hidden culture, the local culture, might be sometimes tricky when you are just a passer by in the town. So meeting up with the locals is in my opinion the best way to get the vibes of the town and the fullest of the experience. CS I see as a way to close down this gap between travellers and locals.
I enjoy to show my city and tell tips about my country weather it be, a place where I'm an expat and see things from the point of a foreigner with the all oddities of the place or be it my home where I can show my country's culture and others can tell me the oddities!
Interests
My driving passion probably at the moment is to travel, which is an aim of a lot of other things I do. On an more adult note I'm also highly interested in social problems, politics, governance and ways to solve these dilemmas, and willing to join or converse also projects over these things and the funding for these on the road. Im for sure into music: playing, listening, talking about it, all goes! Cooking is also a rising interest, always interested to learn how to cook dishes of other countries - and also willing to show the food culture of Finland, but in its non-existance I rater cook a dish learned on the road.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is a tricky one, I for sure listen and play more bluesy and acoustic folk. A lot of alternative and indie. Lot of 60's and early 70's. But all the way to hip-hop, post-punk, gothic rock, reggae, psy-rock and psychedelic. In general, can't really say: at least I appreciate all music done with the purpose of doing good music, instead of pleasing radio or a scene.
I always like movies that take the full benefit of the media presented, so the visuals are really important to go with the good story. Every mood has a film and I'm more into all kind of movies now as I share the campus with a film school. Couple movies that I've really digged are happy colour blasts like Big Fish and Everything is Illuminated.
Taste of books on the other hand is a touch darker I'd say. American Contemporary sinks quite well - Orwell, Kerouack, Burroughs, Hunter.S.Thompson, Vonnegut etc. I also used to read more political thinkers and philosophers, but now a days I get the dose of those from the Uni.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Bought a tuk tuk in Cambodia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach basics of guitar or maybe Finnish to give you the skillset to make very strong passwords. My English is also quite strong so I can help around with that as well.
I'm willing to learn whatever someone is willing to teach!
I'm willing to share almost anything I can bring to the table at the time, at an absolute minimum at least a story!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Depends on the day and the situation. I can always share a story or two, that is what they are meant for. I like cooking with people and getting to know during cooking and eating and if there are instruments I'm also up for that most of the nights. I'm generally quite willing to share whatever I can bring to the table in the form of material goods, social interaction or intellect, I have no reasons not to! Technically all the stuff that happy encounters with new people should include anyhow in my books. I can also help around the house and renevation stuff, cutting wood, helping with garden or farm if staying around for longer.
