Hello!
My name is Ulaşcan. It is quite an hard name to pronounce if you do not speak Turkish. So if you are familiar with the dish named "Goulash", just lose the initial "g" and you will at least be able to pronounce half of my name "Ulaş" and that is actually enough.
I am currently studying English Language and Literature at university and planning to go for an academic career after I graduate. I simply like travelling and I specifically love exploring new places, cultures and people around the world. You could say that I am quite an open-minded person so I do not think I will be having any difficulties about the whole new experiences ahead of me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Basically, why not? And it is also a great way to gather some knowledge about the cities that I will be going. Listening the story of those cities from a local person seems to be the best way to understand the soul and the characteristics of a city.

Interests

Since I am a literature student, you can tell that I am quite fond of reading. I particularly love the Modernist Era of literature. T.S. Eliot, Elizabeth Bishop, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, Franz Kafka, D.H. Lawrence, Pablo Neruda, Ezra Pound, Virginia Woolf and Rainer Maria Rilke are some of my very favourite writers and poets that came to my mind at first thought.
Apart from literature, I am actually interested all kinds of art -particularly in theater-. Besides that I am also interested in politics a lot. So I would like to have a chat on world's politics in general.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am sorely bad at choosing my favourites when it comes to any of these topics. But in music I mainly listen to Jazz standards. Not only music, I love Jazz culture as a whole. Apart from Jazz, I listen to classical music a lot and maybe I can also add quality Pop music from the past to the list.
There are just too many movies that I like, I have an enormous archieve that consists my favourite movies.
I already listed some of my favourite writers, so I am sure any novel from those writers would be one of my favourites.

I really find it hard to talk about myself and I also do not want to seem to be an egotistical individual.

One definite thing about my personality is that I am an open-minded person. So if you want me to teach you something you do not know and I do, I would gladly try to teach; I love learning, I would be the happiest person if you would like to teach me something I do not know and having something without sharing would be pointless, so I share as well.
