About Me

Hi, my name is Silvia and I am a young girl with big dreams. I just finished my studies about Education of History and Civic education at Faculty of Education, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. So if all goes according to my wishes, I am going to be a teacher. My mother and sister are also teachers, so my choice was clear. Since childhood I watched my mom at work and I always laughed when my dad envied her school holidays. Work with children is difficult but also meaningful and joyful, so I want to try it. I like reading books and watching movies, because it is a relax for me. But it also takes me on a new places in the world, and I can imagine, that I am actually there. I really love traveling and discovering new places and traditional cuisine. I was on many vacations, but it was only for one - two weeks, every year. I visited Barcelona, Bordeaux, London, Prague, Krakow, Vienna, etc. One summer, I was in Germany for 2 months. I was helping one family with their 2 dogs. Family went on vacation to the USA, so I moved to their house and had to take care of their dogs. It was really nice summer. Last year I made a big decision and I went for 3 months to the USA. I worked at summer camp as a day camp counselor and after camp I traveled two weeks across the States. I was in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington and New York. I liked it so much, that I came back this year, so I'm at the same camp right now and I will travel again when camp will be over. This year I want to stay on East Coast, so my plan is to visit Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, New Orleans and Miami.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've never tried it before, last year I booked just some hostels and stayed at friend's places, so I just registered few days ago, because my trip across USA will start in two weeks and I'm looking for accommodation and get know American culture and new people. j think that this is really interesting way how to combine traveling, adventure and meet new people.

Interests

I love reading books, watching movies, hanging out with friends and of course, go to some party sometimes. Oh, and good food! I have to try the best of best in every country. I live for the moment, so it's very important to me just stop sometimes, forget about everything, enjoy the great food, atmosphere, view, drink, smell, touch...just enjoy the moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's maybe boring, but I'm proud of myself that I finished my studies and got my master degree. And also my spontaneous decision to go to USA alone for three months turned out like amazing decision and thing to do. It changed my life in many ways, that's why i came back this year, and it's even better than last year.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think that a lot of Americans probably haven't meet any Slovakian yet, so it can be nice cultural exchange. I can tell you more about my country and our mentality.
