Hi! I'm Tom, I'm currently based in Copenhagen with my girlfriend and fellow traveller, Steph. We have been together for six years when we last travelled together spending five months through South America from Ecuador to Argentina, which was incredible. Our next adventure is taking us from Columbia to Central America. in October. This time we will be sailing starting in Cartagena, where we will head north. We are planning on being in Guatemala for Christmas. In the new year, we will then travel inland from there towards Mexico. We will be looking to Couchsurf along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really enjoy meeting new people and sharing experiences together. Couchsurfing is a great opportunity to truly learn about new cultures and customs. It is an opportunity to really get to know a place on a more authentic level. Staying with a local can offer you so much more in terms of getting to know the place, where to eat, what to see, where to go. Having this local knowledge make the whole travel experience so much more enriching.

Interests

Other than travelling and meeting new people, I am really into art, particularly painting, sketching and photography. I always carry a sketchbook and pencil where ever I go. I enjoy playing and watching most sports. Being from Manchester, I support the only team worth mentioning- Manchester City! I cycle all the time, kayak and swim when I can, enjoy a beer, wine and good food in the evening.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm into all sorts of music, to give you an idea ill just say what I'm listening to at the moment, bands like Alt-j, Mount Kimbie, Massive Attack, Jungle, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, also the classics - Beatles, Stones Roses, Oasis etc. Love films by directors such as the Coen brothers, Kubrick and Wes Anderson. Books; I prefer non-fiction, true crime and travel especially!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So many things! mostly related to my travel adventures so far. But I would have to say sailing down the Amazon basin, seeing the amazing wildlife and hearing the epic jungle noises has to be up right there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help with English. We can cook local dishes I know from living in the UK and Denmark. Hopefully, I can learn some slightly more exotic dishes soon!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I said I just enjoy spending time with other people and sharing life experiences. I love to cook and I am a dab hand in the kitchen. I would love to learn more about local ingredients and how they can be used. Would love to share our experiences over a good meal and a drink.
