About Me

I guess I'm working on Lou Reed's advices:

fear nobody (that includes oneself);
get a real good bullshit detector
and be tender.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first heard about couchsurfing a couple of years ago from a dearest friend that travelled around Europe on it. I was living at Florianopolis, Brazil, still finishing college by that time (I recently graduated in medicine), and she would frequently go out with friends on couchsurfing meetings, that seemed cool. I couchsurfed on my last holidays in the Netherlands and in France, it was a nice experience.

From being hosted and reading many host's profiles and my friend's explanations I guess I understood the purpose of couchsurfing (getting to now people from all over the world, sharing and exchanging experiences (and luckly some laughs), respecting the host's house riythms and routine, helping by and be helped by).

If your wish is to frenetically travel and that is most of what you praise and goal in your life, we probably won't make a friendly match.

Interests

I'm fond of cinema, literature, jazz, meditation, writing.

I prefer to travel than to be a tourist, that must sound cliché. I like self purposes on traveling, that doesn't mean excluding city's highlights, but I guess it's essential to get lost on searching for one's own particular interests, such as finding special libraries, bars that care a favorite musician's past, art that made sense to me and so on.

I believe meeting locals highly improve travelling.
Every person has it's own city's experience, based on the the city itself and on it's own personality and perspective throughout life. I like the feeling of getting into it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical music (Stavinsky, Chopin), jazz (Mingus, Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Ellington, Porgy and Bess/Gershwin, Evans, Amy, Dinah, Vaughan, Holliday), rock (Stones), pop (Bowie), chill (Bibio, Ducktails), brazillian MPB (Caetano, Marisa Monte).

Some that came up... Lawrence anyways, Skylab's summer, The dance of reality, Apocalypse now, La flor de mi deseo... Wim Wenders, Bergman.

Woolf, Wilde, Proust, Guimarães Rosa.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I entered a cavern in Bahia, it was actually within a lagoon, we entered with diving equipment and went far from the sunlight till one point we turned out the lantenrs and floated on darkness for some minutes. Real darkness, that was of course more than a place, it was the experience of a phenomen, that was pretty amazing. (I don't mean to sound profound by mentioning it, it just came on my mind).
