About Me

I'm a civil engineer by profession, but still a Trainee! So now I've moved to Lisbon and I'm still preparing my house to receive some Surfers!
I'm little bit loud (make sure to ask me to talk more quietly) and I can be a little too talkative!
I love hearing and playing music, mainly folk string instruments from Portugal (e.g, the Portuguese "Fado" Guitar). But I'm not a musician, far way from that! I've never had the opportunity to go to a music school so I learnt everything as I could.
I love making new friend and I'm loving travelling!

While I'm travelling to meet new places, peoples and culture, I still love to go out at night! (I'm a "good" drinker, mainly beer and wine!)

P.S.: When I go travelling around I take with me a little guitar called "Cavaquinho", it's a old folks' instrument from Portugal, that gave "birth" to the Hawaiian Ukulele! If you are interested in knowing more about it it, just let me show you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Only twice in my life time I had the opportunity to visit other countries. Now that I'm working, I want to make the most of life! So now, when I can get myself on Holidays, I want to travel widely around the world. I've visited Italy and Sweden so far!

I knew about Couchsurfing but didn't know it had this world-wide dimension!
So I'm on Couchsurfing because I got the opportunity to go to USA for 3 weeks (starting at 16/08/2015)! And I didn't know where to start looking for places to stay, so a friend of mine remind me of this and I decided to give it a try!

Music, Movies, and Books

I heard a lot of Music genres, but I in the last 3 years I think I only hear portuguese folks music (aside from the bans I already knew).
I belonged to a "Tuna" (yeah the same name as the fish!) that is a group of university students (that represents a Faculty) playing original songs or portuguese folks music (e.g., Fado), while wearing our university costume (since I studied in Coimbra we wear all black with a black cape!). There are more then 100 "Tunas" across all Portuguese universities. Here you have an example of a song:

P.S.: We sing songs about: the city where we study; our lives as students; the long nights partying and driking; Love and Beauty; sorrowfulness of stopping being a student; and the "Saudade", the portuguese word that means the feeling of missing a place, a person, a time ago.

Since I finished my studies and moves to Lisbon, now I gave place to new students to join my "Tuna"! So nowadays I'm trying to keep up with all new bands and songs! But the genres I like the most are Indie Rock, Rock, Folks music (from every country), Country and Blues.
