About Me

Young Aussie guy, taking some time out after finishing my university studies to work and travel abroad.
Since leaving Australia in December 2014 I have worked in a pub in England, backpacked through Europe, worked at a summer camp in Canada teaching kids photography, travelled some of the States and Canada and worked at a golf club back in England. I love music, coffee, good food, conversations and exploring new places.
My idea of a perfect way to see somewhere new is getting lost on my skateboard with my headphones in and my camera around my neck and finding somewhere to indulge my coffee addiction.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always loved the idea of couchsurfing ever since someone told me about it some time ago. The notion of meeting locals and getting to see a new place through a unique light really appeals to my idea of travel. Contiki can go shove it, lets find a back alley somewhere and have a cheeky drink, take our time and soak it in.
It's corny I know by the quote "Tourists don't know where they are and travelers don't know where they are going," seems to sum it up quite nicely. Keep an open mind and just let the road take you.

Interests

First off, I'm pretty into writing, photography and most things media-related.
Travel is another pretty keen interest of mine and I have loved pushing the boundaries, getting out of my comfort zone and exploring various new places over the course my lifetime.
Apart from that a few things I like doing, which I guess you could call interests, are long-boarding, listening to music, going for walks, coffee, watching movies, reading, looking at art and other stuff that makes me feel "cultured."

Music, Movies, and Books

Music, well there isn't really any type of music I don't really like, I usually choose what I want to listen to according to my mood, but if I were to choose and few favourite genres they would be Australian Hip Hop as my clear all-time favourite, with acoustic and alternative rock pretty up there too.
If we are talking about movies, I have a bit of a guilty pleasure for dramas but otherwise I love stuff like Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting and then comedies and actions, but it needs to have a good story line, something like the Batman Trilogy, or Lord of the Rings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Early last year (2014) I took a trip with my church to Thailand and Burma to work with a grassroots organization which helps displaced Karen people who live on the Thai/Burma border.
As part of it my group and I helped run a summer camp out in the middle of rural Burma, heading up games, organizing different activities and just getting to spend some quality time with an amazing team and bunch of kids.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - Cool things. I could teach you some cool photography stuff, or how to set up and write a blog. I have lots of other odd skills/talents like being able to ride a unicycle so if you have one of them lying around I could show you how to use it.

Learn - Anything. I'm pretty open to learning new things and the more foreign to me the better, lets go out and you can teach me about your home, cool places to go, new things to eat and strange things to experience.

Share - Stories. I have a few pretty funny and cool stories from my time and love sharing a few as well as hearing a few and then possibly making a few.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully I can share a bit of knowledge with you, some fun facts and some cool stories. Other than that, share some fun times exploring, chatting, teaching laughing and learning.
