Hey!
I'm Stan, I'm currently studying in Babson College in MA. I'm about to go into my Junior Year. I was born in Malaysia but I spent most of my life living in both Malaysia and China. Since moving here to study, I haven't had too much of a chance to explore yet so I thought I would put a real effort in this summer. I'm trying to explore culture through food and people. When I'm not flying around to different cities, you'll find me roadtriping in a van to campsites.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet people. I'm mainly travelling alone and I would love to see where people take me. It also helps me keep it affordable and that means more trips!

Interests

I'm obsessed with food, design and behavior.

Food:
I take the artistic approach to food. From time to time, I take a look at classical fine dining techniques but I use it as a creative outlet. I don't do "avocado wrapped in bacon with a hard boiled egg inside" as delicious as it sounds. I'm interested in flavors that let ingredients sing and less gimmicky stuff. I'm starting to delve into fermentation (sourdough bread etc.) and old techniques of cooking and preservation.

Design:
Design to me is a mindset. I had a failed romance with dealing art and antiques but I did get an eye for beauty and detail there. I may not have the language or the formal education but I read voraciously and I obsess about it.

Behavior:
I didn't want to put marketing or business because I feel like there are so many misconceptions about it. But behavior and design are passions that I'm trying to make into a living. I'm interested in the way people perceive things and how slight changes in color/ arrangement/ presentation can lead to meaningful impacts. At the very least, I am helping businesses grow by lending a voice to their story.
