About Me

I'm new to CS with this account. Couldn't log into my old one, but still receiving emails..? Whatever...
My name's René and I'm 29 years old. I'm an open minded person that loves having a good talk while having a glass of wine or beer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people, enjoy their stories and love to learn from their experiences. Plus, like I said, sharing is caring.

Interests

I love reading but, since there are so many good writers, I don't really have a favourite writer.
I love listening to music but, since there are so many good song writers, musicians, wannabes I don't really have a favourite one :)
I'm learning how to sing like an opera singer and maybe turn this into a career.
I like doing sports. Bicycling, hiking, running, volleyball (although I'm not good at it^^) and beer mug lifting.
I love philosophing about everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: everything that strikes a chord in me
Books: soo many good books. But the best book I read lately was Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. And the sequel, Mountain Shadow.
Movies: I like films which make you think and reflect about what's happened. Mostly independent films.
Best film lately: Hector and the Search of Happiness
And the classics, obviously :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In South Africa I helped a cow giving birth to it calf. Midday, no clouds, temperatures of 35 C plus, standing there and helping for 2 hrs straight. Eventually the calf came out, alive, obviously happy, instantenously sucking on my fingers :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach... Well, I like teaching everything I've learned so far to everyone who's truely interested.
And learning? Life consists of a constant learning. Everyone who pretends that he/she knows everything and is in no need of learning anything else can only be considered as ignorant and dumb. And I'm deeply sorry for them since they haven't understood what life's about.
Sharing is caring. I love to share what I have with everyone else who is in need of this or that. I never understood the concept of egoism with goods (emotionally you need to have a healthy egoism. Else you're dragging everyone else down. But that's another topic)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Huge couch, suitable for up to 4 people. Lots of space where you could plant your mattress. You don't necessarily need a sleeping bag, I've got enough linen and blankets.
My flat's very close to the city center, very conveniently located. 3 mins to the underground, 1 mins to a tram, 15 minutes by foot into the very heart of Vienna, 10 minutes to Prater.
Only downside is 4th floor, no lift/elevator, and very high rooms so quite a lot of stairs to cover :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Mexico, Montenegro, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Thailand, Tunisia, United States, Viet Nam
