About Me

I'd like to think I am like my favourite movie genre, dramedy: makes you laugh and think at the same time. I have a few personality traits that might seem contradictory: I'm rather spontaneous in a few things and prefer scheduling in others, every test says I am an extrovert yet I can be shy and I need a lot of me-time, I am social and socially awkward at the same time, and so on. Otherwise I am a culture journalist, I am into arts, books, movies, theatre, human rights. Queer friendly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Unfortunately I don't have the space to host guests - but I find people in general utterly entertaining, we surely have something new to say (teach!) to each other, so I'd be happy to meet up, showing you around, recommend cheap - or ridicolously posh - places, things like that.

Interests

movies and showbusiness (that's my job), books, music, culture in general, politics, (social) media, hype as such, trends in human behaviour, science and scepticism, why human relationships work the way they do, psychology, popculture, history
...
It would be easier to write here just this: world

Music, Movies, and Books

My biggest music favourite is probably Depeche Mode. Other than that I'm more like a (pop)rock kind of person, oldies, indie, but I have a few favourites on the electronic side of the scale as well, electroswing, synth-pop I like 'rich' music: lots of instruments and strong lyrics.

Movies are kinda my job so don't ask me to come up with a list. Okay, my all time fav is American Beauty, and the best movie I saw this year was Ex Machina, Mot Naturen (Out of Nature) and What We Do In The Shadows. Otherwise I love European cinema as well as decently done blockbusters as well. I think Adam Sandler should stop making films.
Or shouldn't have even started.

My absolute favourite book is A Hundred Years Of Solitude. I love Latin-American literature, classics, distopian fiction, books about human versus nature, (auto)biographies of musicians, non-fiction (mostly psychology), I think Harry Potter series is an absolute masterpiece. I do a thing I call 'hypehunting' with books: I read overhyped bestsellers, even shitty ones. I have to know my enemies ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have overcome my biggest fears and frustrations on my own. I made myself and my life the way I wanted. I've written a few strong pieces of texts that touched people. Things like that. Nothing like surviving being trapped in a canyon for 127 hours or hiking the PCT or El Camino.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I teached time-management for a few semesters, I can give a few hints any time. Also if you learn Hungarian, I'm happy to help. I am very easy to make happy, I really appreciate small things and I have an uncontrollable need to cheer up sad people around me :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom
